Today we’d like to introduce you to Tony Berardo
Hi Tony, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’ve always been passionate about health and wellness. One of my first career paths was working at a gym in sales, then eventually moved on to Personal Trainer. After a few years I wanted to dip more into Sales and Marketing which led me down a fun path to work with some large companies like Coca-Cola and Monster Energy.
Over the decades I moved up in these companies and really enjoyed the positions, perks and definitely the people I worked with. But from a health standpoint it didn’t really align with what I wanted to do.
With the pandemic and the combination of my wife and I trying to get pregnant for years, I realized that a “JOB” wasn’t as important to me as a thought, especially as we all realized that companies are switching to Remote Jobs. So after a lot of planning, I decided to do something I’ve wanted to for years – open my own Content Agency.
Fast forward a few years later, we had some family tragedies and health scares but happy to say we know have a beautiful baby girl and I’m 3 years into my Content Agency. I specialize in creating high-quality content for brands which includes UGC videos, social media management and more. My biggest passionate is probably my podcast thought, which I’ve been hosting and producing for years – Humanity and Hashtags.
What started as a side-gig is now something I’ve been able to do full time, while being able to work from home and spent every minute with my family.
We have some big plans over the coming years to scale the business including landing some big clients and launching our dad apparel brand – Human Dad!
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
We’ve had a lot of struggles last couples years…
As my wife and I were struggling to have a kid going through IUI and IVF, which was about 3 years of our life – right in the middle of it, her father passed away at the same time I had to get surgery because Doctors found a tumor in my right lung which resulted in about a 1/3 of my lung being removed. So to say the least, it was a rough time.
But after a long recovery physically and mentally, we got through it with support from loved ones. In the end of that bumpy road, 3 IUI and 2 IVF treatments we were blessed to have our baby girl come into our lives.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’ve spent years crafting my skills in the creator and podcast space to generate high-quality content that hopefully educates my followers while making them laugh a little bit along the way.
My personal brand has always been about trying to be more objective and open-minded in all aspects, learning as much as I can and then sharing that with the world. Now as a new father, I’ve shifted my podcast a little bit into talking more with like-minded parents and creators that struggle with everyday life. This was another reason that motived to start our new apparel brand – Human Dad. The message is simple, “it’s not about being perfect – it’s about showing up.”
I’ve realized being a father these last 18 months, it’s my greatest accomplishment and my favorite thing to do. So the fact that now I’m able to create content and launch an apparel business around it – makes me the happiest guy ever.
If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
I wasn’t very confident actually.
Overweight for the most of my childhood and didn’t really get a lot of friends or in good shape until high school, where I joined the wrestling and football team. I was mostly excited about wrestling and got pretty good my Junior and Senior year which led me to purse more of the health and wellness space after graduating.
Working as a personal trainer really got me excited about working with people and focusing more and more on my fitness, been hooked ever since.
