Conversations with Tina Baker

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tina Baker.

Hi Tina, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I stand here today on the shoulders of some amazing people and I’m thankful to God almighty. I served my country for 20 years with Honor, Courage and Commitment in the United Stares Navy. I am a woman of faith, who believes that God is faithful to those who put their trust in Him and that there is nothing to hard for Him to complete within my life. My entire career and professional life has been and continues to be blessed by God. I am very compassionate about serving my community. I am the founder of Divine Hope Mentoring Ministry a 501 c 3 organization established to mentor at risk youth and young adults. I am a “Woman of Faith” Legacy Ambassador who empowers, influence and spiritually develop people in the Kingdom of God here on earth. I am recipient of the 2024 Biden and Harris Presidential Lifetime achievement Award.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
As a growing leader of change, I believe there are no natural born leaders and every road traveled on one’s journey has bumps both large and small. With this being said, I had to work very hard in the Military to advance in rank because I am a woman. I have never been afraid of hard work and with a positive determined attitude I succeeded at becoming the first woman to qualify in a major leadership role as Communications Watch Officer at one of the largest Satellite Operations Commands during Desert Storm. My struggles have been real and life changing and each one that I endured whether it was in my Navy career or my current career has taught me how to be resilient, patient and focused on who God has called me to be. Struggles made me appreciate things in my life better.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I currently work for the Department of Homeland Security and while I can’t discuss what I do, I can say that I am in public service once again serving the people of this country. I am most proud of the work that I do within my community. I love serving others as it gives me great joy.
I believe in utilizing every gift God has blessed with me. I have really never thought about what sets me apart from others. My motto in life is: “Continue to trust God, be patient and live”

Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
Having a positive attitude toward life and having a willing heart to help others.
