Conversations with The Baracha

Today we’d like to introduce you to The Baracha.

The Baracha

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I grew up in a small town in Texas on a farm in the middle of nowhere. I had cows, chickens, horses any type of animal you name it! I loved everything acting since I was a kid as it was my escape away from reality and a place to be anyone I wanted.

When my mom got a brain tumor and almost lost her life. Acting was the only escape I had to not completely lose it. In fact that trauma later helped me develop a newfound method for my acting.

When my mom was fully recovered from her surgery, she decided to gift me the chance at acting on one condition: I made straight A-s in my academics. So I worked hard and met that goal. Soon after I was picked up in a talent showcase by a manager and agent in Los Angeles who begged me and my mom to take my career to the next step and move to Cali. So that’s what we did.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Me and my whole family moved to Cali to follow my acting dreams. One of the biggest struggles other than being homeless for months was realizing no other girls in the industry looked like me. Being multi-racial I was always pulled in for various ethnic roles yet never the right “fit”. Not “light” enough or not “dark” enough.

That’s what fuels me to this day to be a successful A-list actress. So little girls that look like me have hope and know they are beautiful and with their talent can land lead roles.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m an actress who loves to create! I specialize in both drama and comedy but my true passion will always be the drama genre. Having been through so much in my life I have so many emotions and experiences that are so beautifully used in the various roles I play.

What sets me apart is my defiance against rejection and also my drive. Ask anyone and they’ll tell you I don’t play when it comes to my grind lol!

I’m most proud of my most recent project I worked on that is this apocalyptic film where I got to pay homage to my Native American roots and my grandfather who was Cherokee.

It felt like he was with me while I filmed and really helped me understand my character. Can’t wait for everyone to see it. It’s called Event Virus.

Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
Yes! I’d tell them you are the change the industry needs and to be proud of your skin color. Don’t let anyone decide what you can and can’t do in this field and never take “no” as an answer. I wish starting out someone told me, “You are a star. You just have to believe it”.
