Conversations with Stephanie Rosen

Today we’d like to introduce you to Stephanie Rosen.

Stephanie Rosen

Hi Stephanie, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
I’m originally from the East Coast, Northern VA, which is close to DC. I’ve been in LA for 13 years now, so this is home. When I originally moved to LA, I came out here with $1k to my name and a $2k credit limit. I didn’t know anyone when I first moved out here except for my roommates whom met through mutual friends. So, I was definitely nervous, however I knew I wanted to live here and be a part of Hollywood so there was no way I was moving back.

My journey out here has been very fulfilling and interesting. There were many times I could’ve packed up my bags and moved back to my comfort zone, but I’ve always known I was meant for more. I’ve changed my direction a few times over these last 13 years- from working in the food industry to starting a business in the health & fitness industry to recently flipping my whole life around to fully pursue my art career with no apologies.

I am an artist of many sorts. I started dancing when I was 2 and 1/2, fell in love with acting/ performing while in elementary school and have always been an all-around creative. I’m currently a professional dancer in the industry, transitioning into the acting/commercial industry, and I’m a portrait artist. I love painting people- whether its commission art for a family member that has transitioned or a custom piece of everyone’s favorite athlete/artist.

I personally feel that we are blessed with many gifts, and when they are fully utilized in the right way- it’s a very fulfilling lifestyle that you don’t need a break from.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has been an interesting road. I wouldn’t say smooth because I’m still figuring it out as I go; however, I will say that I have learned my share of lessons, especially with distractions and the company you keep.

I’ve had my moments where I allowed life to distract me from my original purpose. Whether that was needing money so work came first over my creativity. To allowing the fear of success to sabotage me. I also had a bad habit of surrounding myself with people who accepted me at my minimum. Which supported me not living as my best self, basically dimming my light to allow the ones around me to feel comfortable.

I will say this, learning what I know now. Having a good circle around you that holds you to what you say you want to do really helps make the road smooth. I’m very grateful to say that I have that now and an amazing team- so I’m excited for the next chapter.

Thanks – so, what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m an actress and I’m super excited about it. At the current moment I am studying at The Screen Acting Studio- focusing on scene study along with improv and I love it! After being a part of the dance industry, it feels good to be getting back to what I love the most. So keep a look out for this face!

I am an artist as well. I will say my specialty is portrait paintings. I love using acrylic and pencil.

I would say my style is abstract realism. I am self-taught, so the only lessons I’ve had were in high school- which shoutout to my art teachers at the time, they really believed in me and helped me realize that I’m really good at what I do.

I used to use art as an outlet to process my emotions, however now I really love how it makes others feel. Seeing their eyes light up and them taking in my take on what I see.

A piece I’m most proud about is my recent commission I just sold. It’s a 22×30 portrait of LeBron James. I think it’s some of my best work because I was so free during the process and just trusted myself vs trying to make it “perfect” for the client.

What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
Do you. Make sure you stay in your lane and have delulu in how great you are. Comparison only leads to you dimming your light. Know you’re valuable- that includes your art.
