Today we’d like to introduce you to Stacey Wells.
Hi Stacey, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I can vividly remember the first time I strolled down the iconic Sunset Strip in West Hollywood. The pulsating energy, the eclectic mix of musicians, the legendary venues, and the cool rocker looks of the people—all of it was an overwhelming source of inspiration for me. This was the beginning of a remarkable journey that would intertwine my love for art, music, and the vibrant history of Hollywood.
My fascination with the Sunset Strip led me to channel my inspiration onto canvas, capturing the essence of local musicians who fueled my creative spirit. The thrill of people-watching amidst the music and Hollywood history became the driving force behind my art.
The turning point came when I was invited to showcase my work at a gallery on Sunset during the Sunset Strip Music Festival. What started as a one-time event evolved into an annual celebration featuring both legendary musicians who had graced the iconic venues and local talents shaping the scene today. Organizing these shows became a passion in itself, as I discovered the joy of planning alongside the creative process.
West Hollywood continued to be a source of exciting opportunities. A call from a designer during my departure from LA led me to paint a dress for LA Fashion Week, a challenge I eagerly accepted, and my creation opened the show, marking a memorable moment in my artistic journey.
The pinnacle came when Gibson Guitar approached me to hand painted for Guitar Town. My 10-ft hand-painted Alice Cooper Tribute guitar sculpture adorned the Andaz Hotel on Sunset before being auctioned off for charity. Another creation, the Steven Tyler guitar, found its place at Hornburg on Sunset.
Eager to give back to the community that embraced me, I dedicated time to teach art to homeless teens at LAYN, witnessing their pride in creating portraits. The generosity of the Sunset Strip community fueled my desire to contribute positively.
As my art found its way into galleries across the US and onto the walls of celebrities like Steven Tyler, Sean Stewart, and Hugh Hefner… An interesting fact—all of them hung my art in their bedrooms.
Beyond celebrity connections, my art has been commissioned by large corporations, including the Hard Rock Hotel and the NFL Raiders for Allegiant Stadium.
Creating custom artworks for individuals and corporations has been a fulfilling challenge, requiring a unique approach to reflect personal, individual passions or brand identity. I love hearing that my art makes people feel happy, that drives me.
My art journey, peppered with Sunset Strip tales, celebrity encounters, gallery shows, and more, is chronicled on my website. To read and see more of my adventures, subscribe to my website. I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Amidst the highs, my art career faced unexpected challenges. Cancer treatments and consecutive injuries—broken shoulders and a wrist—posed significant obstacles. However, even during chemotherapy, I proudly continued creating art that raised over $100,000 to support others.
Breaking my right shoulder didn’t deter me from accepting a commission from the Hard Rock Hotel. Similarly, while recovering from both a broken shoulder and wrist, I was commissioned by the NFL Raiders to create artwork for the VIP suite level at Allegiant Stadium,
Thanks – so, what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a mixologist of art, music, pop culture and wine, creating art that remixes history with a humorous twist. My art can be found on art collectors’ walls worldwide, including a few celebrities. The people who buy my art also collect the works of Andy Warhol and other famous artists.
I am well known for my RockStar Reflections, a unique series of wine artworks that were inspired by tasting wine so good, it was rock star worthy.
These paintings of bottles reflect good times with music and wine, essentially capturing time in a bottle.
Each piece of art has a hidden message in the reflections, allowing the buyer to send a message in a bottle to the one they love. These artworks fast became popular collectibles and a commissioned custom art capturing your time in a bottle.
Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
To those embarking on an art career, my advice is simple—stay true to your vision, follow your passions, and remain unique. Avoid the trap of conforming to what others are doing; instead, revel in your individuality. Most importantly, have fun with it!
