Today we’d like to introduce you to Scott Rich
Hi Scott, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
As the Chief Creative Officer at Scott Rich®️, a sustainable and innovative, nature driven fashion brand launched at San Diego Fashion Week in 2015.
I combined my passion for nature and the environment with my photography and fashion styling background to create original photographic prints, using an eco- friendly printing process that uses no water and produces zero waste.
My purpose is to create colorful fashion prints that evoke positive energy and emotions and make a positive impact on the people who wear Scott Rich®️ prints, while being environmentally conscious and celebrating nature and its beauty.
My fashion styling work has been featured in various magazines and publications including San Diego Fashion Week, New York Times Fashion Magazine & NYT Fashion Instagram, Los Angeles Fashion Week, San Diego Swim Week, LA Confidential Magazine, Modern Luxury Magazine, Ten10 Magazine-(UK) LA Fashion Magazine, Cleo-(Thailand), Zoe Report, San Diego Reader, Discover Magazine, and a costume credit for a feature film released in April 2023, Summoning Sylvia, working with a fellow FIT friend and graduate who is a Costume Designer in New York and worked on that film.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The biggest struggle for me has been finding people to make and produce high quality designs.
Having a one stop shop is important for my brand also because of the complicated printing and cutting processes to engineer the prints properly on the clothing.
Also, finding a production company that isn’t located overseas and doesn’t cost a fortune, because I strongly believe in being environmentally conscious through all of my business practices. Including place of production, shipping, delivery and distribution.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I specialize in creating, colorful, bold, original photographic fashion prints. I print my designs on fabrics such as Lycra, chiffon, athletic knit, satin, fleece and denim. I am most proud of the originality of my designs. I have still not seen anything like it in mainstream fashion and think there’s definitely a niche for it in Los Angeles. My fabrics are also special because they are all easy wear, easy care, machine washable, including dresses and gowns, wrinkle resistant, lightweight and packable for traveling.
I also believe that my prints fit in well with the active lifestyle, sunshiny weather and happy California vibe that everyone loves who is lucky enough to live here which is also why I want to launch my brand here in LA.
What sets me apart is the originality of my photographic prints. They are digitally engineered and placed on each garment in a way that isn’t usually seen in fashion.
What was your favorite childhood memory?
Getting kissed on the lips by Chaka Kahn after giving her a rose during her concert at the Starlight Theater in Latham ,NY!
