Today we’d like to introduce you to Sarah Bellini.
Hi Sarah, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I am originally from Germany, growing up in Hamburg with a German mom and an Italian dad. I moved to the US in 2014 with my twin sister to follow my dreams in the performing arts. I remember taking my first yoga class in Venice and instantly feeling at home in that environment and being eager to learn more. Having danced my whole life, yoga felt like a healing complement to both mind and body. It quickly became a homecoming for me—a return to my heart and my truth, a journey of self-trust and empowerment. Just before the pandemic hit, I decided to pursue my first yoga teacher training in NYC, followed by various training programs in Breathwork and Yoga Therapy. Teaching yoga and Breathwork has been incredibly rewarding and meaningful to me. With each class, my intention is to guide students on a path of self-discovery and empowerment. I aim to create a space where people can leave feeling not only physically stronger but also with a heart full of love and a deep sense of inner peace.
I am now leading retreats for women only internationally to empower them to build their own internal sanctuary to uplift and heal each other. Very excited to see where this journey continues to go!
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Definitely not a smooth road! While my journey has been incredibly rewarding, it hasn’t been without its challenges. Moving to a new country to pursue my dreams in the performing arts came with its own set of obstacles, including adjusting to a new culture and navigating the complexities of the entertainment industry while being far away from family and friends.
When I started my career in yoga, I constantly dealt with imposter syndrome, and to this day, I still deal with it. Especially living in a place like LA that is surrounded by talented, beautiful, and successful people, I often catch myself thinking, “Do I have what it takes? Am I even good enough?” While being in LA can be very inspiring, it can also be intimidating, and it definitely thickens your skin! I still sometimes don’t fully know where I’m going, but my yoga practice and a strong circle of women help me to stay grounded and connected to my truth.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I teach yoga and breathwork at various studios in LA, including Sweat Yoga and ALO Yoga Studio. My classes blend dynamic movement with mindfulness practices, aiming to promote physical vitality and mental clarity. Additionally, I host international women-only retreats, primarily in Europe. These retreats bring women together to empower, uplift, and heal one another in a supportive and nurturing environment. In addition to retreats, I offer wellness events for corporate companies, providing tools and practices to create a peaceful work environment. By incorporating breathwork and gentle movement into these events, I aim to support employees in feeling focused, energized, and content, ultimately enhancing productivity and overall well-being in the workplace.
I am also an actor; some of my recent projects include appearances on FX’s Trust and Counterpart Season 2.
As an actor, I bring the same passion and dedication to my work as I do to my teaching, allowing me to explore different facets of storytelling and expression.
Through my work both on the mat and on the screen, I strive to inspire and uplift others, fostering connection, compassion, and personal growth.
In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
I think there will be even more significant growth and evolution in the wellness industry, particularly in areas related to yoga, breathwork, and holistic healing practices. As society becomes increasingly aware of the importance of mental and emotional well-being, there will likely be a greater demand for accessible and inclusive wellness offerings.
