Today we’d like to introduce you to Samantha Aguilar.
Hi Samantha, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My name is Samantha Aguilar and I am an L.A. based artist. Art has always been a therapeutic escape for me and I love knowing my art work holds a place in modern society. My work revolves around themes of beatification and community growth. I paint murals, trucks, carts, canvas, anything and everything! My clients come to me with an idea in mind and it’s my job to bring it to life through color, composition, and inclusivity. I’m blessed to have people believe in what I do! It takes a lot to trust someone to execute your vision and I’m grateful for every opportunity!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Something I still struggle with today is knowing when to slow down. I’m often so excited to take on any challenge but sometimes that means putting my projects before my own health. I’m learning to take things easy and reemphasize art as a creative outlet.
Another challenging struggle is everyday life! The art industry in Los Angeles is so competitive that it can be difficult to keep priorities in check, but family is the most important priority. I think as ling as family stays #1, then everything else will fall in just the right place.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
One of my favorite murals is on a Venice Community Housing building. It’s called Community Garden and it revolves around two children planting homes that flourish into plants. This inspired a set of murals to come throughout LA. One will be painted in 2026 and a few others will be apart of this collection.
What makes you happy?
Painting makes me happy. I’m obsessed with painting! It’s something that brings ease while also keeping me humbled. I’ve been painting for over 10 years and I am still learning something new everyday.
