Conversations with RM47

Today we’d like to introduce you to RM47.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
We are originally from New Jersey & New York and both grew up with a heavy dose of creative influence and tons of music at home. We were introduced to each other by some colleagues and had instantaneous snowballing chemistry.

After working together on separate projects for years, we were given the suggestion to present some songs as a duo. Our first song out together was kind of a happy accident. The response was more than we expected, and we’ve been leaning into it ever since. We both bring different aspects of artistry perspective and expression to the table that make us an even stronger unified entity.

Our upcoming debut EP – “Stuck WIth You, But I Like It” – is the culmination of our life, times and travels. A colorful and eclectic soundtrack to help us all move onward and upward on our journey.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Absolutely not… It’s an amazing and rewarding experience, but also one of the most challenging paths as a creative entrepreneur.

If you’re not prepared to build a runway, a plane and learn how to fly all on your own pure love & passion, this may not be the route for you. You will want to quit at least once during your journey… but you will be stronger than your circumstance and learn when to pivot or redirect your energy when necessary.

This path truly takes a lot of persistence, consistency, and perseverance. After you reach a certain space as an artist, you realize that it’s not just about talent or skill… or money… or just relationships… it’s about finding a healthy balance between all things and keeping your integrity and humility while doing it.

Hardest challenge might be finding that beautiful blissful balance, but you got this!

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
We are multi-hyphenate artists that dabble in all things creative. MAAD is a recording artist, songwriter, DJ, and model, while Raleigh is a musician, vocalist, mixing and mastering engineer with expertise in production and songwriting. Together, we have developed a solid foundation that enables us to collaborate seamlessly as RM47.

What distinguishes us is not only our collaborative chemistry but also the genuine friendship we have cultivated over the span of a decade. Our extensive knowledge of music history further enhances our unique approach to creativity and collaboration.

Have you learned any interesting or important lessons due to the Covid-19 Crisis?
Absolutely! Go within. It’s always good to express your thoughts, feelings and ideas. For us, this project was the by product of that. In the process, we delved into new depths of our collaborative chemistry, transforming our home studio into a sanctuary for mental and spiritual escapes. Our environment allowed us to create music that takes us and our listeners on a much-needed trip around the world.
