Today we’d like to introduce you to Rameez Haq.
Hi Rameez, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My family and I immigrated from Pakistan when I was seven years old with the hope of building a better future for ourselves. My father was an architect that devoted his entire life to his profession and my mother is the hardest working person I have ever met. At one point in time, she was working 2-3 jobs to help support my siblings and I so we could have the life that we dreamed of. We grew up in the small town of Clarksville, IN just across the river from Louisville, KY, and later relocated to the big city. Needless to say, dreams and aspirations growing up in a small town are limited simply due to the lack of resources and information at the time. Although I always had the drive to do something great in life and had big goals, sometimes my mind was focused on irrelevant things when I was younger, but now that I am grown with a family of my own, the drive is even greater. Wanting to provide for my wife and son, along with being able to take care of my parents in a way that they could have never imagined has been my number 1 priority in life.
I’ve always been told that I have plenty of street smarts and am a people person, so why not put it to use. Rising through the ranks in the automotive industry at a fast pace wasn’t enough for me. I wanted to do something that would not only make the world a better place but allow my family to live securely because of it. Fast forward a short time later and the idea for “Just N’ Case” was born. A unique and revolutionary safety app that allows a user to call for help in situations where they can’t reach their phone, whether they are being assaulted, fallen down, in a crash, or just need help and the phone is either on the ground, in a pocket or purse, they yell a pre-selected safety phrase and 5 emergency contacts get a text along with the user’s location, allowing them to send help. The best part is, Just N’ Case works worldwide and has been downloaded in every continent except Antarctica! Being able to create and launch an app like this is just what the world needs today, especially with the way things have been recently. Although I may not have gone the traditional route of being a doctor, pharmacist, etc, like my other siblings, sometimes being the outcast is a blessing in disguise.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The road to where I am today has been anything but smooth to say the least. Even as I am explaining this, the road to success is equivalent to the broken roads of LA or NYC, both of which I have experienced while living there. There are plenty of potholes, speedbumps, and traffic, plenty of traffic, but that doesn’t mean you simply stop driving to your destination. Rejection and failure are two words in my vocabulary that I have heard all too often and still continue to hear. Whether it was applying to jobs when I first got my start in the auto business and hearing that I don’t have enough experience, to pitching investors and media outlets to support this Just N’ Case and getting turned down quite often. I view failures and rejections as a fuel that only motivates me to succeed even further. Yes, I’ve dealt with racism and discrimination growing up in Indiana and Kentucky, and even in major cities I’ve lived in, but those experiences have provided me with a greater sense to succeed and prove everyone wrong.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I currently am the General Manager at Pagani of Beverly Hills, an ultra-luxury boutique car dealership that specializes in the sale of vehicles with a price range from $200,000 to $15,000,000 and have been here for over four years now. I have put in the hours and paid my dues to get to where I am today. Apart from my full-time job, I am the Founder and CEO of Just N’ Case, the world’s first personal safety app that allows a user to call for help in emergency situations where they can’t physically reach their phones, I.E. in a pocket, in a purse, on the ground, etc. Although I am probably one the youngest General Managers in the automotive industry, my biggest accomplishment professionally is without a doubt Just N’ Case. It is something that I know my son would admire me for as he gets older not only due to the fact that I am trying to make the world a better and safer place, but more of the reason that I didn’t let failure or rejection deter me.
We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
The best and luckiest roles I have had in my life are being a husband to my amazing wife Nida and aspiring to be a great dad to our exceptional son Elias. These are probably the hardest roles in my life and something that I would never change!
