Conversations with Polina Galkina

Today we’d like to introduce you to Polina Galkina.

Hi Polina, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
It all started when I moved to Utah in my early 20s. I was surrounded by National Parks, hiking trails and epic scenery, the experience of which inspired me to combine my passion for photography and love for nature into Rocknroamgirl.

In our world of digital noise and overstimulation, Rocknroamgirl was created with the purpose to bring one to a present moment and through nature’s beauty inspire one to get out and explore the great outdoors.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It’s challenging to stay original. Luckily, the true source of my inspiration never fails me, which is nature itself. I’m constantly on adventures finding and sharing locations that are not so common.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Rocknroamgirl combines two passions of mine: nature and photography. It grew quickly through Social Media, turned into a blog, and transitioned into building a community who is not only in love with exploring but also thriving to be mindful and present.

This journey lead me to the creation and publication of Western Americana: One Year Mindfulness Journal which I was most excited to share with the world.

The idea behind this journal is to create space to connect with yourself in the morning before jumping into a busy day. This guided journal has a unique structure that combines inspiring imagery and haikus, as well as prompt questions for journaling. All together, this process doesn’t take too long and allows you to start your day focused. Instead of unconscious scrolling, Western Americana allows you to create a morning routine that reinforces positive thinking, re-centering and presence.

The crisis has affected us all in different ways. How has it affected you and any important lessons or epiphanies you can share with us?
The pandemic has taught me to be more adaptable and collected. During this period, I learned to slow down and meditate on daily basis, explore passions and hobbies that I always wanted to try (like oil painting) and enjoy the simple things. It has been a revolutionary time for my personal development.
