Today we’d like to introduce you to Phoenix Nicholson.
Hi Phoenix, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I started acting when I was three months old when I was cast as the baby on All My Children for the characters Jesse and Angie. I stayed on the show for two years until it went off the air. After that, I started booking print jobs for retailers like The Children’s Place. When I was four years old was when I started doing national commercials, and when I turned eight, I started to do TV and movies. I have been amazingly fortunate to have won the Nova Star Young Performers Best Actor award in 2021 and 2022, and amazingly I’ve been nominated for best actor again in 2023. I’m currently attending a performing arts middle school in Los Angeles and I study acting with renowned child acting coach Andrew Magarian.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
No, nothing in life is ever really smooth, when I was seven years old my acting manager at the time told my dad that she wasn’t certain I had what it takes to be a really good actor. That was definitely a low point, but it also taught me a valuable lesson. As it turned out, less than six months later, I found a new manager who truly believed in me, and I went on to book my first lead role in a feature film, which I ended up winning best actor for. The lesson I learned which is invaluable, always believe in yourself, no matter what.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m an actor in commercials, television, and film, and I also do voice-overs. I think the thing that set me apart from others is my tenacity, my work ethic, and my rock-solid belief in myself and my talents.
We’re always looking for the lessons that can be learned in any situation, including tragic ones like the Covid-19 crisis. Are there any lessons you’ve learned that you can share?
I truly learned just how important teachers are, and how important it is for students to be in the classroom in order to learn in the best way possible.
