Today we’d like to introduce you to Nancy Mikhail.
Hi Nancy, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I’ve always loved education. Ever since I was a little girl, I’d play school with my cousins and make them be the students. Teaching has always been part of who I am. After working as a teacher in an elementary school to becoming a principal and then working with student teachers, I realized that I love to teach about education. Giving workshops to teachers about innovative teaching strategies to take back to their classrooms was a new found passion of mine. I started giving workshops at conferences and schools – which led to Nancy Mikhail Education Consulting. In addition to teaching at a university currently, I give hands-on professional development workshops to teachers. The workshops I offer are interactive and leave teachers with practical strategies they can immediately implement into their classrooms.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The best things usually aren’t a smooth road. The most challenging aspect is connecting with schools to provide my services.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
One part of what I do is give professional development workshops to teachers about Project-Based Learning, STEAM, and differentiation strategies. I also teach at a local university in the Education department. I’m honored to teach future teachers. I take pride in simplifying the process and concepts of innovative teaching strategies to relay to teachers so they can immediately and seamlessly implement game-changing strategies to better serve their students. Every student as the ability to learn – it’s just our job to figure out how to teach them.
What were you like growing up?
Growing up, I was a very curious girl. I had a lot of questions about everything and loved to learn. I also took any opportunity to learn about teaching. Volunteering took up my time because I wanted to gain experience in schools as early and as much as possible. I also enjoyed and still do, being with family. I was blessed to grow up with many close cousins and family that I cherish.
