Michae, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I grew up in very humble beginnings in Hectors River, Portland, Jamaica. My childhood was filled with the warmth and challenges of a tight-knit community. In 2014, I migrated to the United States to be with my mother, seeking new opportunities and a brighter future. My journey in the medical field began in 2016 when I started working on my dream of becoming a registered nurse. After taking a break from school to gain some real-world experience and explore different opportunities, I moved from Orlando to California in 2018 to work in a prominent hospital. This experience solidified my passion for healthcare and taught me invaluable lessons about resilience, dedication, and compassionate care. I am currently in the process of resuming my studies to achieve my dream of becoming a registered nurse which I am really excited about.
In 2023, I decided to venture into content creation, driven by my love for fashion and lifestyle. I began sharing my passion for dressing up and my unique perspective on various trends. Since then, I’ve had the privilege of working with amazing brands like Febreze, Cascade, Estée Lauder, The Ordinary, and TPH by Taraji, and many more brands. While I’ve made significant strides, I’m not yet where I want to be in my content creation journey. My ultimate goal is to collaborate with more fashion brands, as fashion has always been a significant part of my identity. I believe in the power of self-expression through clothing and accessories, and I am eager to continue sharing my style with the world. My journey has been a blend of perseverance, hard work, and passion, and I’m excited about the future as I continue to pursue my dreams in both healthcare and fashion.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
My journey has not been a smooth road. There have been several struggles along the way. One of the main challenges was adapting to a new country and culture after migrating from Jamaica to the US. It took time to adjust to the new environment and find my footing. When I began my studies in 2016, balancing school with the need to support myself financially was difficult. This led to taking a break from school to gain real-world experience and earn an income.
Moving to California was another significant challenge. It meant leaving behind the familiarity of Orlando and starting anew in a different state. Venturing into content creation also came with its own set of struggles. Building an audience and establishing myself in the fashion and lifestyle space required a lot of effort and perseverance. There were times when it felt like progress was slow but despite these struggles, each challenge has taught me valuable lessons.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I currently work from home full time, allowing me to manage my various professional pursuits effectively. I am an entrepreneur and actively invest in the foreign exchange market. This venture has taught me valuable lessons in financial management and strategic thinking. One of my long-term goals is to own a fashion boutique. I’ve already taken steps toward this dream by creating an Instagram account called “highfashionklozet,” where I plan to share my fashion sense and hopefully launch my boutique.
What I am most proud of is my ability to balance these diverse interests and careers while making significant strides in each. What sets me apart from others is my unique blend of experiences and skills from the healthcare, financial, and fashion world. These experiences instill in me a deep sense of empathy, discipline, and resilience, which I bring into my content creation ventures. Conversely, my creativity and fashion sense adds a fresh perspective to my professional endeavors.
