Today we’d like to introduce you to Mic Todd.
Hi Mic, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Well, I’m from Detroit, Mi and music has always been a passion for me. I’ve been around music all my life, from my dad being a local D.J and my uncle owning a studio. With the love of music, I started making beats, writing raps when I was eight. My uncle (Tony) gave me the opportunity at a young age to learn about the music, more than just making it. I started off producing, engineering & songwriting. I’ve recorded people for years, From A-List Artists down to the locals in our city. With consistent work, long hours in the studio I had the opportunity to perfect my craft. The evolution of my music is inevitable, the sounds, the flows, & the Candaces were noticeably different from the surrounding talent in Detroit.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The roads, man, it’s so many hurdles that you have to cross when you’re on a mission for your dreams. It can be from losing loved ones, people not realizing and understanding the talent you possess. Being put on the back burner so you can let other people shine & blossom. Just getting people to believe the music art was never an issue. It’s more so the support.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m a producer, songwriter, engineer, & artist. I make music from the heart & what I feel. I’ll take a neat & bring my life to it, being from Detroit I was able to see a lot of things which naturally gave me experiences for me to talk about. I’ve recorded about 50% of the artist in Detroit, it was very rare if they knew that I made music, their session was always about them & their music. I’m proud of the fact that my humbleness & the way me & my team (Kitchen Table Music) carry ourselves with this music. I have the gift to put words to a beat that makes you feel good! Not saying other artists have no substance but the way music is today, it’s a lot of people that sound similar & speak on the same things, my music is just different!
How do you think about luck?
I’m just beyond Blessed, I would say I don’t think the good luck part has started yet, I know I need a little bit of luck to get this music where I want to take it!
