Today we’d like to introduce you to Meghane Lex.
Hi Meghane, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Meghane Lex, born on August 27, 1999, in Washington, D.C., is an African American actress, model, musician, content creator, and podcast host. She developed a passion for entertainment early in life. In middle school, she would stay in on weekends to study movies, produce music videos, and cover songs to post on her YouTube channel titled “megclichexo”. At 18, Meghane moved to Los Angeles to study Media Production at Occidental College, aiming to pursue a career in Hollywood.
In her acting career, Meghane first appeared in television shows such as Alone Together, where she played the role of a high school drama student. She also appeared on the game show Pictionary, competing on Rebecca Romijn’s team in the “Happy Wife, Happy Life” episode. For her college senior thesis project, Meghane wrote and directed the short film A Simple Life, which was completed in April 2022. Most recently, she played the role of a mean girl in the upcoming film If Loving You Is a Sin, Then I’ll Go to Hell (2025). She has several more film and television projects currently in post-production, set for release in 2025.
As a musician, Meghane released her first single, “Limerance,” on SoundCloud at the age of 18. Her debut singles, “Lonely” and “Lost Angeles,” were written and recorded in her bedroom and edited on her laptop. By 20, she had directed her own music video and written two albums, an EP, and over 20 songs. Her music is available on platforms like Apple Music, Spotify, Tidal, YouTube Music, and iHeartRadio.
In addition to her work in film and music, Meghane is a content creator. She hosts the podcast “Pod With Meg,” where she discusses topics such as love, life, spirituality, Los Angeles culture, entrepreneurship, fashion, and music. On her YouTube channel, she continues to share music videos and vlogs. She also livestreams daily on YouTube and Twitch broadcasting her daily routine. In December 2024, Meghane served as the interview host at the Culver City Film Festival.
Meghane is active on social media, where she engages with her audience and shares aspects of her personal and professional life. Through her diverse creative endeavors, Meghane Lex continues to make her mark in the entertainment industry.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Struggling with anxiety and depression during college, Meghane faced difficult times managing panic attacks both inside and outside of the classroom. In 2020, Meghane’s late boyfriend tragically passed away from a drug overdose. Through her healing journey, she began restoring her faith in God and started vlogging on her self-titled YouTube channel, Meghane Lex. Despite her past struggles, Meghane has since found peace through yoga and meditation. She is currently training to become a virtual and in-person yoga instructor.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Growing up, I wanted to be a computer scientist. In fact, I was deeply inspired by Bill Gates and Steve Jobs. I spent my summers attending engineering camps at schools such as the University of California, Berkeley, the University of Massachusetts Lowell, and the University of Maryland. However, after moving to Los Angeles, I realized that media production was a better fit for me as a college major.
I’m someone who loves to stay busy being creative. For example, during the actors’ strike in 2024, I launched my self-titled podcast, Pod With Meg, where I interview inspiring people I’ve met in Los Angeles and have casual, meaningful conversations. I’m currently in production for Season 2 and recently hosted interviews at Los Angeles Fashion Week for the Lumiere Runway F/W show.
Back in elementary school, I was the only one in my friend group who had a loudspeaker and knew how to download songs “for free,” so I would DJ parties and make playlists for me and my friends. Today, I post mixes on TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube Shorts under the name DJ NutMeg.
I’m also a little bit of a foodie and have a food blog titled, Eat With Meg: https://eatwithmeg.tumblr.com/ where I share recipes and restaurant recommendations from places all over the world.
What sets me apart is that I genuinely love staying busy and am incredibly passionate about content creation and music. I also tend to follow my heart and intuition—when I have an idea, I act on it almost immediately. One of my favorite mantras is: “Why wait?”
Any big plans?
My goal is to become an EGOT winner (Emmys, Grammys, Oscars, Tonys). Every year, I watch the Oscar’s and cry a little bit every time, embarrassing I know. When I was in middle school, I attended summer camp at French Woods Festival of the Performing Arts in New York and felt so inspired walking through a place where bands like Maroon 5 were formed, and where alumni like Ariana Grande and Zooey Deschanel once trained. I still remember getting chills watching “Moulin Rouge! The Musical on Broadway” during the holidays with my family in New York in the winter of ’22. Lucky number 222—the angel number about focusing on your goals— I’m really into spiritual stuff like that.
Regarding my podcast, I’d love for Pod With Meg to evolve into a talk show with a vibe and setup similar to The Jennifer Hudson Show or The Jimmy Fallon Show (two of my favorites).
As for my personal life, I dream of being married with (fingers crossed) four beautiful kids, living in a castle in Laguna Beach, California. Yep—I’m all about that California Cinderella story!
