Today we’d like to introduce you to Marina Kiseleva.
Hi Marina, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I was always working in the corporate, making good money and building my career. But was never really satisfied with my everyday life. It felt as if I was living the life that my parents, teachers, etc. would expect me to live. I was always into sports, as a child I used to be a rhythmic gymnast, but education and my career was always a priority. The passion of my past years was pole dancing and stretching. I was training a lot to evolve in this field being an adult, learnt tons of different technics from different activities (like yoga, ballet, etc.). Then I decided to quit my job in finance as I had my daughter and started an education in Psychology. At the same time, I was offered a part-time job as a stretching instructor in the local studio. Once I started teaching on a regular basis I found out great satisfaction doing this job, lots of positive client reviews, it finally felt like I took my path in life. Studying psychology gave me tons of understanding about myself and also helped to understand my clients better, their goals, their fears and insecurities.
A year later I decided to try a new dancing style that just started to become popular, it is very close to pole dance but more about dancing less about sports and no pole, just on the floor. The name of this style is Frame Up Strip, it was created by a Russian dancer approximately 10 years ago as a combination of several dancing styles such as floorwork, high heels, and popping… There are no coaches in LA who can teach it, so I had to learn it online from Russian instructors. And again it felt like 100% my path and my childish dream to become a dancer came true. I was invited to teach this Frame Up style in 2 studios, where currently working.
But I wish to create my own classes offline to introduce this beautiful feminine style to people in LA, as well as I want to work online on my Instagram platform to teach this style and my concept to more people across the world. This style combines beautiful feminine emotional dance, great workout for your body that will increase your strength, flexibility and mobility and also it is a great training for your brains: you have to memorize choreography fast, evolve the musicality and mind-body connection in order to dance a nice routine.
I believe with all my heart that this is one of the greatest methods for people to stay in shape, not being bored during workouts, open up and bloom the feminine part and be a part of the community I want to create. I want people around the world to recognize about this style, to get read of stereotypes and try it for themselves.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Lots of limiting beliefs and stereotypes about being a coach, being a dancer, showing of sexuality and sensuality to public. I was six years in therapy to be able to overcome my fears and insecurities to finally choose the path that is mine.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
In order to be sensual, feminine and sexual, you don’t have to wear lingerie, full makeup and all the sexy attributes, I teach my clients to open their inner potential, feel it, live it, express through their body and emotions, no matter how you look and how you are dressed. Coming and practicing it with me, make my clients owning this condition, when they are “moms on duty”, “big bosses”, housewives… And as a bonus they get strong flexible bodies. I do incorporate a lot of strengthening and stretching practices in my warm-ups because I consider it is an important part in dancing.
We’re always looking for the lessons that can be learned in any situation, including tragic ones like the Covid-19 crisis. Are there any lessons you’ve learned that you can share?
it helped me to change my career and start doing what I really love and want to do, where I belong
