Today we’d like to introduce you to Marco Dapper
Hi Marco, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I started to paint back in 2006ish. My therapist told me I needed another creative outlet besides acting. For artistic expression. So. I figured both my grandmothers painted, my mother and my father painted cars for a living. Why not give it a shot. Slowly, I would seek a piece here and there until one day I said why not have a go at the full-time artist life?
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I like to think life should reflect an EKG chart. There is always peaks and valleys. If you flatline anywhere, let’s be honest. You’re dead. Should look at the bumpy times as opportunities of growth.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
So I’m a slasher. Actor/ painter. I take the work when I can. I’ve been fortunate to make a living doing that for a bit now. I honestly can’t say what I’m really known for haha. The think that I am most proud of is that I been able to make a living as a creative. It was never about fame or even fortune. Although fortune would be nice, just to be able to have food and shelter doing the thing that I love. It doesn’t feel like “work.” I think the tubing that sets me sort is I just use my own specific point of view on things. It’s not for everyone but I’d rather have a specific person respond to my work than cookie-cutter “art.”
If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
I was pretty much an extrovert. I had and have a lot of friends. I was a stoner in junior high and high school, so I always have had a laxed outlook on life. But I always wanted to be everyone’s friend. I figured everyone just wants to belong and to be heard. I think that’s why I am an artist, so I can still connect with as many people I can. And not in a superficial way.
