Today we’d like to introduce you to Marc Zammit.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I was 19 years old. I started my first business called Tstars Parties, which was a leading nightlight guest service. I needed a side hustle while I was doing my acting. After a successful amount of years with the business, I decided to leave as I felt it was distracting me in my ambitions, and I always remember them saying be successful in what you love and not what you hate. I learned many skills from having this company, and I thought I could use the same method with my acting, so I learned how to build a successful following of over 300,000 people, which then helped my acting career. Then, I found a love for directing and producing. I loved the idea of telling the stories rather than be a small part of it. Thats when I decided to make a film production company, I then made my first film production company Aptitude films and used the same business methods I used with my previous company stars to get clients. Next, we had over 50 projects with my business partner, James Fuller. I then wanted to make my first movie to direct, produce and star in that can raise awareness I then used a social marketing method to crowdfund over £100,000 to get the film made. Which the film Homeless Ashes is now out worldwide. I always remember the say you only fail when you stop trying.
I then made a second company called Skylark Vision, which started off as an Aerial filming service and stock footage, but it was a very slow progression, so I decided to also develop this into a production company with my father, Tony Zammit. I then used so same and developed methods, and we got over again 30 clients for this company. We then raised private equity to get our first movie production made, “One Thousand Flames,” but due to COVID, this put a big delay on the film and made it feel almost impossible, so we then made a film called. WITCH that I directed and produced with Craig Hinde.
The film is due to come out this year April.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
There is no such thing a smooth road. It’s been very hard. I think the biggest key to being successful in anything is not running away from mistakes. Taking accountability and being a problem solver.
I think in many businesses you have to learn how to work with everyone, not expect people to be perfect, and certainly understand you are not either; the saying “Judging someone does not tell you who they are but only defines who you are” you got to learn to deal with peoples weakness find their strengths and ride with that.
I have countless struggles, but I say the biggest is not to get distracted, remain focused, and not to give up because you only fail when you stop trying.
Thanks – so, what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m a film Director, Producer, Actor
And founder of Skylark Vision and Aptitude Films
I think I am proud that I have come from nothing; everything achieved is from teamwork, believing, and not throwing in the towel just because it isn’t easy.
I don’t think anything sets me apart from others. Winners look straight losers look left and right in the race. I look straight, so what others do, I hope they are successful in their own way. I don’t compare myself, as the only comparison I have is looking right back at me in the mirror. If anything sets me apart is the determinations I have.
What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
Being logical, not emotional, with choices.
I like to be a problem solver in every business. If I learned something, you will always come across problems. Be the person in the room that fixes the problem, and people trust you and the ability you have.
I like to talk very little and just get the work done. I think for me too is also know how to read the room and even though I’m more logical I am quite emotionally intelligent so I can naturally socially blend with people from all backgrounds.
