Conversations with Mahrael Boutros

Today we’d like to introduce you to Mahrael Boutros

Hi Mahrael , we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I always knew I wanted to create something truly special. I’ve always had a passion for directing TV shows and movies, but I started out with no idea how to even begin or what tools to use. In the summer of 2017, I packed up and moved from Florida to California with almost no money in my pockets and no definite plans. Fast forward 7 years, and here I am, stronger and more determined than ever. I now create online content, including engaging mental health and funny videos with friends. I’m also in the process of writing my own short film, which is coming together just the way I envisioned. Additionally, I’m making a comeback in stand-up comedy after taking a break to prioritize self-care. I’m feeling more confident and motivated than ever before.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I dedicated myself to my art, but some people exploited that, which took a toll on me. I took a break and distanced myself from the game because I feared criticism. I’ve become selective about who I allow into my circle. With the support of the right people, I’ve been able to produce the work and make the progress I’ve always aspired to achieve as an artist.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I live for storytelling! Every day is an adventure for me. Just the other day, on my way to work, I came across a person who had passed out with no pulse. Without hesitation, I sprang into action to perform CPR. After what felt like an eternity, the person finally regained consciousness. Despite receiving praise from onlookers, all I could think about was being late for work, so I hurried off. My life has been a wild ride, from working unusual jobs to encountering famous individuals and experiencing TV-worthy scenarios. I love sharing these incredible tales on stage and online, and my friends even say I could have a hit show called “Mahrael” with five seasons’ worth of stories.

If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
I truly believe that my unique personality will take me far. I embrace my lack of filter, my 4”11 stature, my very curly hair, and my high-pitched voice. I thrive in unpredictability, and I am a big risk-taker. I gamble, but deep down, I always know it’s going to work out for me. I would regret not trying, so my curiosity is definitely my biggest motivation.
