Today we’d like to introduce you to Lulan Wang.
Hi Lulan, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My name is Lulan, and I hold a Ph.D. from UCLA. My passion for scientific discoveries has led me to author more than 20 publications. Alongside my research career, I have also established a photography company, driven by my keen interest in the field. Initially inspired by my personal search for a wedding photographer, I realized my potential to offer a more innovative and imaginative approach to wedding photography. Over time, my company has grown to become one of the largest studios in Los Angeles and Orange County, with an impressive portfolio of over 400 weddings captured annually. I am honored to have received more than 25 awards for my work, and my photographs have been featured in prestigious publications such as GQ, VOGUE, BRIDES, The Knot, BBC, and numerous online platforms. In recognition of my exceptional talent, I was also named the best photographer in LA in 2019.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Every stage of my career is vastly different, and it requires a different set of skills. But I guess the question is not asked correctly. If a career is a smooth road, perhaps we are not challenging ourselves enough.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?

What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
In the next 5-10 years, we can expect AI to continue to transform the photography workflow, including editing and visualizations, in several ways:
Automated Editing: AI algorithms will continue to become more sophisticated in their ability to analyze and edit images, making it possible to automate many tasks that currently require human intervention. This includes tasks like cropping, resizing, and color correction.
Personalized Editing: AI will enable personalized image editing, where software can analyze a photographer’s editing style and preferences to automatically apply those settings to new images. This will help photographers maintain consistency in their editing style while also saving time.
Predictive Analytics: AI-powered software will enable predictive analytics that can analyze a photographer’s shooting habits and preferences to make suggestions for future shoots. This includes things like suggesting the best time of day to shoot based on lighting conditions or recommending specific camera settings based on past shooting habits.
Real-Time Image Processing: In the future, we can expect cameras to be equipped with AI-powered processors that can perform real-time image processing, such as noise reduction, color correction, and sharpening. This will help photographers get the best possible image straight out of the camera, reducing the need for post-processing.
Improved Visualizations: AI will continue to advance in its ability to generate realistic visualizations of how a photo will look in different lighting conditions or how a design element might appear in a real-world setting. This will help photographers and designers make more informed decisions before the actual shoot or design process takes place.
Overall, AI will continue to play an increasingly important role in the photography workflow, enabling photographers to work faster, more efficiently, and with greater precision. As AI technology continues to evolve, we can expect to see even more advanced features and capabilities that will further revolutionize the photography industry.
