Today we’d like to introduce you to Lorena Placeres.
Hi Lorena, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I’m Lorena Placeres, an actress from Canary Islands, Spain. I’ve been interested in being an actress since I was a kid, but being from an island has its pros and cons, it’s beautiful, relaxing and the people are very friendly, but if you want to be an actress it’s not the best place to be! My parents wanted me to go to university and study something that gave me financial freedom and stability, so I decided to study business administration. But when the pandemic hit and a few family members died when they were still young, it made me realized that I need to do what I like, where my passion is, so I decided to pursue my acting career and I said to myself, go big or go home! And for that reason, I came to LA! I’ve done a few projects, including feature movies, short movies, music videos, theater, etc, while living in LA. Maybe I’m not where I want to be, but I’m definitely not where I started! My next goal is to open my own production company because I also love screenwriting and producing! Let’s go!
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I’m so fortunate because I’ve met wonderful people, I’ve studied in the best acting schools and I’ve been blessed to have had acting jobs and opportunities. It’s true that I didn’t come to LA in the best time because I came after the pandemic hit and since then, the industry has been a little challenging, specially after the strikes and AI, but I’m still standing! The water does not pierce the stone by its strength, but by its constancy. Be like water, my friend!
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m an actress from Canary Islands, Spain who speaks three languages, Spanish, English and French, and I understand Portuguese and Italian. I also sing and I have knowledge of martial arts and dance, among other skills like comedy and screenwriting.
What’s next?
I’m looking to inspire other people with my work. To create and tell stories that can send an important message to the world, to provoke emotions, to impact the world with powerful messages, to entertain and to give opportunities to those who lost hope.
