Today we’d like to introduce you to Liana Moon.
Hi Liana, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I was born in Moscow, Russia, and left my hometown at eighteen. With a group of close friends, I bought a one-way ticket to Thailand, driven by a deep longing for spiritual insight, freedom, and adventure.
It was in Thailand that I was first introduced to Buddhism, and I felt an immediate, profound connection. During that time, I became pregnant, and in one of my meditations I received a very clear inner calling: my child needed to be born in India. I had never been there before, but the message felt undeniable. Trusting that inner voice, I obtained a visa, bought a ticket, and traveled to India alone.
I gave birth to my daughter naturally at home, surrounded by mantras and incense. I went on to live in India for six years, where I built a kindergarten rooted in art, meditation, emotional intelligence, and most importantly-love. Those years deeply shaped both my personal and spiritual path.
Later, I was invited to join BudArt, an international Buddhist art festival dedicated to sharing wisdom and compassion through creative expression. The first festival took place in Russia, followed by Los Angeles, where I was invited to teach children in orphanage schools emotional intelligence and emotional regulation through art.
Los Angeles immediately felt like home. There was a sense that anything was possible here. I eventually moved with my daughter, who went on to become a professional skateboarder.
I continued walking my path, and today I am known as a meditation and breathwork teacher, guiding immersive experiences for transformation and healing. I also offer something very rare in the West-Leela, the ancient Indian Game of Enlightenment—which I learned during my years in India and now share as a powerful tool for self-realization and insight.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
My path has never been smooth, but I’ve learned that the greatest struggles often carry the greatest gifts. A traumatic childhood and a deeply challenging relationship with my step father shaped me in profound ways. For a long time, I carried a lot of anger and hatred toward him,but that pain ultimately led me to Buddhism, where I learned how to transform hatred into love, and suffering into freedom.
Later, a painful separation from a partner I believed I would spend my life with became another turning point. What felt like an ending was actually an opening, bringing unexpected opportunities in my work and awakening my spiritual gifts on an entirely new level.
Moving to the United States without connections, financial security, or a clear plan was terrifying. And yet, that leap into the unknown became one of the most expansive chapters of my life, opening doors I could never have imagined.
Through it all, I’ve learned to return to one guiding principle: I choose love over fear. Every time.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I help people remember who they truly are, finding their light, clarity, and purpose through breathwork, meditation, and Leela.
Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
When it comes to networking, my biggest advice is to stay open and lead with genuine curiosity. Try to see the good and the light in people, when you do, they feel it, and it naturally creates trust and ease. Authentic connection always opens more doors than strategy ever could.
As for finding a mentor, I truly believe in the saying: when the student is ready, the teacher appears. There is often an intuitive recognition-you feel it. At the same time, wisdom asks us to stay grounded. Pay attention to how a person actually lives, not just what they say. Observe their values, their actions, and how they treat others.
The most meaningful mentorships arise when we use both the heart and the mind, trusting intuition while also choosing consciously and wisely.
