Hi Lauren, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’m a Michigan native who traded snow for sun in Clearwater, Florida. After college, I packed my bags and headed to LA, laser-focused on the movie business. A brief stint as a paralegal kept me afloat while I dove headfirst into theatre, eventually leading to some cool work in film, TV, and commercials. When the pandemic hit, it was time for a plot twist! I found the world of voice-over and absolutely fell in love. Now, you can find me in my home audiobooth as an audiobook narrator and animation voice actor, all while keeping the creative fire lit as an entrepreneur and artist.
I’m the creative force behind A Dram of Glam, a business that fuses engraving with dazzling bottle art. This entrepreneurial journey, while exciting (and sometimes terrifying), has immersed me in the world of business and investment. And guess what? My work has caught the eye of celebrities like Taylor Swift, Dolly Parton, Kylie Minogue, and Kendall Jenner – I must be doing something right!
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Life hasn’t exactly been a straight shot with any of my ventures, that’s for sure. It turns out being an actor is just as tough as everyone warns, and with the current state of Hollywood and the rise of AI, things are even trickier now. Because I was so focused for so long on training and the craft of acting, I kind of skipped the whole business side of things. So now, here in mid-life, I’m having to teach myself all those lessons. It’s often incredibly difficult and a huge challenge, but honestly, I do enjoy the process of learning new skills.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Most people in my life know I’m the person who can make anything—if I set my mind to a craft, I’ve got the determination and skills to pull it off! That creative energy is also poured into my business, A Dram of Glam, where I create bespoke designs and engravings for spirits and wine, helping clients put together the perfect extra-special gift or home bar piece. Meanwhile, in the audio booth, I’ve been busy, narrating over 30 audiobooks (mostly in the romance genre) and most recently voicing the lead character for David Goyer’s exciting new sci-fi animated universe, Emergence.
What’s next?
I’m excited about what’s ahead! Eventually, I plan to start streamlining things—cutting down on some of the projects I’m juggling—so I can really lean into the passion that brings me the most joy. I’ve put a lot of hard work into planting seeds, and I can’t wait to see which ones are finally ready to bloom!
