Conversations with Laurel Guaderrama

Today we’d like to introduce you to Laurel Guaderrama.

Hi Laurel, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I got my license in 2015 and within 6 months I had passed the national average income for hairstylists. By 2019 I was making over 6 figures and had scaled away from working nights and weekends. I knew I had the business skills to help other stylists so I also began coaching others to scale their business behind the chair in the same way I had.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Everything was going smoothly until 2020. Between COVID (my industry had 3 different shut downs) and having my first baby (Feb 2021) I took a major hit on my income and clientele. I had physical postpartum complications and was unable to return to work fully until 2023. Since then I’ve been scaling my business again the way I teach others to do and from 2023-2024 I doubled my income.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Behind the chair I specialize in blondes and vivid colors. I can make you into Sabrina Carpenter or Hayley Williams. I also teach other stylists about marketing to help them scale their business like I was able to.

Do you any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
I love music so much and some of my favorite memories from being a kid were going to my dad’s band’s shows.
