Conversations with Keyshawn Carter

Today we’d like to introduce you to Keyshawn Carter

Hi KeyShawn, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I have a Master’s in athletic training with a strong foundation in movement assessments, strength and conditioning, pain management, functional mobility, and exercise prescription. I have had the pleasure of working with people of all ages across the country from athletes at Princeton University in New Jersey to post-surgical patients in USC Keck Hospital in LA.

Currently I am a graduate student obtaining my Doctorate in Physical Therapy at USC as I expand even further on my gained expertise. During school to sustain myself, I decided to start KeyPT to be able begin my journey as a sole proprietor.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Like most things, it has been tough to get to where I am and stay here. With my busy school schedule, money complications, personal struggles, and managing relationships- there has always been a struggle to make enough time to get things going in the right direction.

The best part is that the struggle never comes out on top.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Ill best describe my work by the ways I describe my sessions to my patients:

Initial Assessment: We kick things off with a comprehensive evaluation. This involves understanding your medical history, current concerns, and assessing your movement patterns. We’ll dive into your goals, concerns, and what you’re looking to achieve in therapy.

Personalized Treatment Plan: Based on our assessment and discussions, I’ll craft a personalized treatment plan tailored specifically to your needs and goals. This plan will outline the steps we’ll take together to achieve your desired outcomes.

Hands-On Therapy: Expect a hands-on approach! We’ll work together through therapeutic exercises, manual therapy, and any other specialized techniques deemed beneficial for your situation.

Education and Empowerment: I’m a firm believer in empowering my clients with knowledge. I’ll educate you about your condition, teaching you techniques for self-care and injury prevention, empowering you to take charge of your health.

Ongoing Support and Feedback: Our journey doesn’t end when the session concludes. I’m here for ongoing support, answering questions, providing guidance, and adjusting the treatment plan as needed. Your feedback is crucial, so we’ll continually tweak our approach based on your progress and comfort levels.

Celebrating Progress: Every milestone matters! We’ll celebrate your victories, whether it’s increased flexibility, reduced pain, or accomplishing a fitness goal.

Ultimately, it’s not just about the sessions—it’s about creating a partnership focused on your well-being, growth, and long-term health

What were you like growing up?
I’ve always been curious about everything. Eager to ask questions and even more eager to prove something wrong. I think taking an interest in everything- especially the truth, molded a good future for the young version of myself.
