Today we’d like to introduce you to Katty Ukhanova.
Hi Katty, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’m from a little town in the North West of Russia but because I followed my dream to become a top model and I won the beauty contest Miss Beauty of Russia in my region. Since then, I’ve been modeling for the last 15 years around the world have been signed with top agencies in London, New York, Paris, Tokyo, Milan, and Los Angeles. Because of my work with big brands and successful contracts, I’ve got the opportunity to apply for Green Card as an extraordinary talent and I got approved. So now I can stay in the US and keep working with Wilhelminamodels in LA which is my agency for the last seven years.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Fashion industry is very fast pace and to be able to catch up and be in tune sometimes is hard. I started modeling kind of late when I was 19 years old usually girls begin at 14 and finish their careers in a 3-5 years. Very competitive business with a sense that you are never good enough because a decade ago, beauty standards would force you to lose weight. But now at 35, I feel lucky and grateful that I keep going and I feel like even more interesting shoots and projects are about to come and the fashion industry has positive changes towards respect for models and becomes very diverse nowadays.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I can model for high fashion and commercial projects or beauty, sports, and fitness brands. I guess my ability to move well makes me stand out because of my dance heels, ballet, do kung fu sword practices I use while modeling.
What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
AI modeling is gonna take over probably regular human models not gonna be needed at least for e-commerce for sure.
