Conversations with Julia Rose Barnett

Today we’d like to introduce you to Julia Rose Barnett

Hi Julia Rose, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Growing up in a 200-year-old home in one of the oldest towns in the US, I began seeing Spirits when I was nine-years-old; the first being my grandparents and uncle simultaneously. I then came to discover that I come from a lineage of intuitives from both sides of my family. My great grandmother who I am pretty much a clone of used to tell people’s futures through interpreting their dreams, my grandmother accurately predicted loved one’s husbands and wives, and my grandfather predicted family members’ futures by underlining lines from the Torah and Bible.

For years, I put my intuitive gifts to the side to pursue my career in acting and writing — and also out of fear. It wasn’t until I began predicting events in my own life, ranging from relationship break ups to my move from New Jersey to Los Angeles that I realized I needed to harness these gifts I deemed scary and strange in a healthy way. That’s when I not only discovered Tarot and Astrology, but also unearthed their incredible mental health benefits and their ability to heal.

Years later, I was hired as the Writers’ PA for EMERGENCE on ABC in 2019. As exciting as it was, the pay was too low to cover my bills, so I decided to start reading Tarot for friends and acquaintances on weekends. When the pandemic hit, the show I was on got canceled — but I tripled in clientele. That was when my husband told me I should officially start my business. After finally counting my clientele and having over 100 repeat customers, that’s when I decided to pursue work as a reader and healer, and Heal With Rose came to life.

Now, I not only give tarot, astrology, psychic, and medium readings, but I also integrate my intuitive abilities into my storytelling as a TV Writer, playwright, and filmmaker.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
No ride is ever fully smooth — it’s up to you to make it smooth!

First, owning a business is hard work that takes perserverence, passion, and the consistent reminder of why your heart is continuously leading you down this road. Sometimes you’re overbooked and overwhelmed, other times your schedule is too open (and you’re still overwhelmed!). The key to finding smoothness on the road of the spiritual entrepreneur is understanding who you are as a business and how you can serve the community to make everyone’s lives easier and more joyous.

Second, giving readings is a big responsibility that cannot be taken lightly, but must be done with love, respect, and care. Sensitive topics like love, career, personal development, and life’s milestones are always addressed. Loved ones on the other side show up when necessary as well. Because Tarot, astrology, and mediumship are extremely misunderstood and tend to get a bad reputation, I know I have to communicate carefully — and that’s the beautiful power of intuition. When you as a reader and healer are fully present, in that meditative state to receive the intuitive messages, your communication will always be for the highest and best good of the client.

That’s why my business is called Heal With Rose. Because divination is an emotional and spiritual healing tool that allows the individual to overcome the obstacles they inevitably face before blooming into their dreams fulfilled. You’re not simply “telling the future” — you’re gifting the client with the tools they need to create the future they desire.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a psychic-medium, tarot reader, and astrologer who is also an award-winning screenwriter, playwright, and filmmaker. I tell female-driven stories that heal genetic trauma, woven from the threads of my unique experience as a psychic-medium.

As a writer, I worked in the writers’ room for ABC’s EMERGENCE, workshopped my play, Arriving Early at The Players in NYC, and have placed in top screenwriting competitions such as Script Pipeline (runner up), Screencraft (Semi-Finalist), and Shore Scripts (semi-finalist).

As a reader and healer, I am known as the creative’s intuitive who intertwines Tarot and Astrology into her sessions for both forms of divination work beautifully and symbiotically together. The majority of my clientele are artists and entrepreneurs working in entertainment, music, and fashion, including social media influencers and even psychologists. My readings center on emotional and spiritual healing based on the empowering themes that show up in your natal chart and in the cards, so you can bloom into your highest and best self. My readings that have been featured on podcasts such as the Confident Collective.

In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
I see spirituality continuing to rise in popularity as film and television make a huge pivot that we’re already feeling with the strikes and great contraction. With Pluto, the planet of revolution and generational transformation entering socially-driven Aquarius for good in November for the next 20 years, we as a collective are going down the path of everyone having the opportunity to become a celebrity, regardless of what field they’re in. I see the days of only a select few like Marilyn Monroe or Brad Pitt being pop culture icons ending — now everyone will be an icon for simply being who they are, showing up in the medium they have access to, whether that’s TikTok or a feature film.
