Conversations with Josh Welles

Today we’d like to introduce you to Josh Welles

Josh, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I played football for 13 years starting at 7 years old. I come from a broken home so sports were my way to escape. When football ended I needed something to put my all into and I found acting. I never imagined I’d be an actor and I was way too terrified to ever try. Eventually I decided that I wasn’t going to let the fear stop me and I went for it. I moved myself to LA and I haven’t looked back.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I don’t think the road for any actor is smooth. Maybe some nepo babies have a smooth ride to some degree but that’s not the case for me at least. Jobs can be few and far between, I’ve been on my last dollar many times. I’ve had to learn how to make ends meet against all odds.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am an actor that’s most known in the vertical format tv show world right now. The very first time I ever acted was in a show called Ms. Swan Teach Me Love on the ReelShort app. I had never acted nor read line with anyone before. The first lines I ever read were in the audition. I was casted as the lead having never acted, never been to an acting class, and never even seen a script before. It was an experience.

What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
The most important lesson I’ve learned is to trust God. I used to think that meant “trust God to give you what you want”. If I just trusted Him enough, he’d make me a famous actor and give me a bunch of money. Now I know that trusting God means that He may have a way different plan for me and I have to trust that plan. My timing and my plans are unimportant. Only His prevail.
