Today we’d like to introduce you to John Rajaee.
Hi John, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My journey to becoming an attorney and starting my own law firm began in college. I initially pursued a career in medicine but soon found myself drawn to the legal field. I decided to switch majors and enrolled in law school after graduation.
Funny enough, after completing law school and passing the bar exam, I began working at Laboratory Corporation of America as a legal and compliance officer. I gained valuable experience and worked on a variety of interesting cases, but I always had the desire to start my own firm.
In my mid-thirties, I decided it was time to take the leap and start my own firm. I partnered with two other attorneys who shared my vision and together, we built the firm from the ground up. It wasn’t easy – we had to put in long hours, make tough decisions, and constantly adapt to new challenges. However, we were driven by our passion for the law and our desire to help clients in need.
Over time, our firm has grown and we’ve been able to expand our services to help clients in even more cities throughout California. We’ve built a strong reputation in the community and have been recognized for our dedication to our clients and our commitment to achieving positive outcomes.
Today, as a 41-year-old attorney and co-founder of a successful law firm, I feel grateful for the opportunities I’ve had and proud of what we’ve accomplished. I’m excited to continue serving our clients and contributing to the legal profession for years to come.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
This question reminds me of a quote, “The road to success is not straight. There is a curve called Failure, a loop called Confusion, speed bumps called Friends, red lights called Enemies, and caution lights called Family. You will have flat tires called Jobs, but if you have a spare called Determination, an engine called Perseverance, and a driver called Willpower you will make it to a place called Success.”
First, we struggled to find cases and clients that would trust a new law firm. Second, I had to navigate the complex legal and financial requirements involved in starting a business. Finally, I had to compete with established law firms with more resources and brand recognition.
Despite these challenges, I remained determined to succeed. I networked tirelessly, made countless pitches, and worked hard to differentiate our firm from the competition. My goal was to emphasize customer service. I wanted the clients to feel listened to and heard. With a little bit of luck and determination, we had a few initial clients. We started the business in my kitchen and then moved it to my partner’s house before finally moving into a virtual office. We took on whatever cases we could get and worked long hours to establish our reputation and build a client base.
As our firm grew, we were finally able to build out our own office space. We currently occupy 6,000 square feet and employee 20 people to assist us. It’s been an incredible journey and we aren’t even halfway done yet.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Although I was very successful in the corporate law arena, I grew to believe that the human element was missing from my work. So, I made a drastic change to the plaintiff’s personal injury law. Since then, I have devoted my heart and soul to representing seriously injured victims of car crashes, truck wrecks, dog bites, traumatic brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, and other accident victims who truly need my help, rather than deep-pocketed companies that are simply looking to protect their reputations and wallets.
Of course, my background on the defense side is now my secret weapon, and more often than not in a mediation or settlement discussion, I leverage my vast knowledge of the defense’s motivations and weaknesses to get my clients the high dollar value personal injury settlements they deserve.
I am renowned for my compassionate and friendly approach toward my clients, and my goal is always to answer every question a client poses in a helpful and respectful manner – it is never to end a call or a meeting as fast as possible. My human approach to client relations has earned me many glowing testimonials, and I have also been awarded the prestigious Avvo Clients’ Choice Award and Yelp’s client choice award for my consistently high ratings and reviews among clients.
My undergraduate education was at UC Riverside, where I earned a bachelor’s degree in Political Science. Following this, I earned my Juris Doctor at the Whittier College School of Law in Orange County, where I participated in numerous regional mock trial competitions with great success. Since obtaining my law degree, I have made it my mission to serve the local community through charity work.
I currently reside in Irvine, and I am an avid car buff and enjoy spending my time with my wife and son.
We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
If by luck you mean hard work, determination, failure, sleeplessness, networking, and amazing outcomes for my clients, then yes… I’ve had good luck.
Luck is always a factor but you have to be ready when the lucky opportunity presents itself. People have the misconception that luck is the sole factor that allows for success but I look at luck as the icing on the cake. In reality, it takes years of hard work and dedication to a field to build a solid foundation for success so that when that lucky moment presents itself, you are ready to move forward with it.
