Conversations with Janet(Yanny) Velasco

Today we’d like to introduce you to Janet(Yanny) Velasco

Janet(Yanny), we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I started in the beauty industry in 2015 I was in a deep depression and makeup was my coping mechanism. I would spend hours trying new looks recording and editing then uploading them to YouTube then pictures on Instagram. I then started connecting with my audience and I love that they tried my looks and tagged me I loved that I made other women feel beautiful and got out of their comfort zones. This really helped me enormously and I am grateful that because of this journey I have helped others along the way that have suffered with depression ever since sharing my story.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
At the beginning it was a smooth road but now with the changes that social media has done. It definitely has been hard with the algorithm but there is definitely good and bad days. Key is to never give up and keep going.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a beauty influencer and creator. I also freelance on the weekends. I also have a full time job in the medical field. What I am known for is for my makeup looks I post on my social media pages. I am proud of all the looks I have done throughout the years and getting featured in brand pages and collaborating with well known brands like IPSY, Boxycharm, Covergirl, NYX, etc. I feel what sets me apart from others is that I engage with my audience if they send me a message I reply and interact with my audience that I see as my big social media family.

What was your favorite childhood memory?
My favorite childhood memory would probably be the 1st time my parents took us to Disneyland. I honestly didn’t have a great childhood.
