Conversations with Jane Thurmond

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jane Thurmond.

Hi Jane, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I’ve spent decades as a coach and trainer both in real estate and as a fitness professional.

As my kids were nesting out I started racing. A CAR! I’d always been active in riding motorcycles, jet-skis, running 10ks and half marathon, but wanted to do something that my kids thought was cool. I wanted to make sure they’d still hang out with me.

Racing came to me pretty easy. And thus began teaching other women (and men) to perform at their highest level.

Shortly after came sponsorships from nationally recognized brands in Motorsports. I became a published Motorsports Lifestyle Journalist and ALL of this came flooding in at the tender age of 52/53 years old!!!

Honestly as women we’ve been told that this type of career is for women much younger than that!

But the most amazing thing I noticed when I’d give women of any age a ride or hot lap in my car, they’d say, “I could never do that!” And they’d open up about how they weren’t always sure how to stay relevant in their career or personal life. For me that was one of the toughest things to hear from incredible women that still had so much to offer the world.

I started really paying attention to the stories I was hearing about women and men in and out of racing. And the stand out question became how do you get from here to where you want to go? And how can I use my connection, my experiences, my passion to reflect what I see to those people who don’t recognize their badassery 😜.

My passion is connection and teaching people how to connect or rather reconnect to their passion. How to reclaim their power in all areas of life in the most valuable and positive way. To REIGNITE that which makes their skin tingle and allows them to stand in purpose while paying it forward.

I coach people how to tap into their confidence. How to maintain a “Momentum Lifestyle” that allows them to stand from a place of “I can make a difference” in their own lives and the lives of others, through love, gratitude, truth and tapping into a knowing that failure is fuel for growth.

Here’s the thing, I could go on about me being adopted as a baby – the result of rape, that I was a victim of physical abuse by a father who was an alcoholic, that I left home beaten at the age of 17. Then struggled with my own addiction after that.

Listen, I’ve been married for 40 years, have three adult kids, one who is completely estranged from the family, and that I’ve had marital issues. That I don’t have any desire to work a typical job, and that without my ability to paint or be creative I would probably lose my shit!

But everyone has their own story. Mine just happened to show up after 50. It came fast and loud like my race car. And it turned into a brilliant career that I never saw coming but chose to foster into a podcast, a coaching program and ultimately a way of life that screams “YES – you can too!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Is it ever a smooth road?
