Conversations with Jacie Scott

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jacie Scott.

Hi Jacie, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My story began when I fell in love with dance, to put it simply. At a young age, I felt most like myself when performing, and as I grew older, I knew that I needed a life that revolved around movement and connection.

I attended Louisiana State University, earned a bachelor’s degree in mass communication – print journalism, and danced with the national champion LSU Tiger Girls. After graduation, I moved to Dallas, Tx, where I spent four years as an internationally-acclaimed Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader and later to New York City to perform on the Great Stage as a Radio City Rockette.

I’ve built a career around my passion for movement, but another passion of mine is writing. I recently started a Substack publication called Mo Laime Toi, a self-reflective blog in the form of letters to my angel mother. She lost her battle to pancreatic cancer when I was 18, and her memory, her lessons, her quiet strength all ground me as I navigate this life and all that comes with it.

All of this has shaped me into the dancer, entrepreneur, creative, mentor, writer, etc., I am today. It always comes back to movement, connection, and being the type of woman my mother would be proud of.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I’ve read many times that nothing worth having comes easy. Life ensured I knew and understood this lesson because, OH MY GOD! HA! From day one!

I don’t believe I chose a super unconventional route, but a Louisiana girl attempting to build a life around dance isn’t exactly a small ask, either. I’ve had to answer the “when are you going to get a real job” questions. I’ve faced imposter syndrome. I’ve had mental health spirals. I’ve wondered where from and when my next check would come. I’ve questioned my talent, my worth, and my potential. I’ve missed life moments, family moments, and friendship moments.

And this isn’t super unique to me by any means. Anyone passionate about making their dream a reality understands these obstacles. It’s part of the journey, and I’m proud of what I’ve learned from them and what I’ve been able to do because of them.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I own a small business – In10tion Movement – dedicated to building a community around movement, mentoring dancers interested in pursuing professional dance teams, and offering intentional workshops that enhance team development. As a former Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader and Radio City Rockette, I bring my unique skillset and knowledge into every experience to help nurture dancers interested in a similar path or simply interested in growing as a dancer/mover!

I’m a master instructor and studio manager of The Bar Method Marina Del Rey and a group fitness instructor at Equinox.  Movement and connection are medicine, and I bring this value -and the fun – into every class I teach

I’m a wearer of many hats, and I love that. I have so much passion, and I’m proud that I can pour into so many communities. Stay tuned!

What makes you happy?
Dancing. Writing. Vulnerability. Connection. Sharing my passion with others. Celebrating others.  Showing up authentically.

I’ve had incredible opportunities that have taken me all over the world, to and through so many different scenarios/experiences, and it is incredibly fulfilling to share it with others and dive into this life as a creator.
