Conversations with Isaak K. Nsuangani

Today we’d like to introduce you to Isaak K. Nsuangani.

Hi Isaak K., thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I graduated from Cal State Long Beach with a Bachelor’s degree in film screenwriting and creative writing minor. During my time in college I started my company Aureate Productions to facilitate productions outside of the classroom. I wanted a framework I could build and nurture partnerships with fellow students at the time who have now become long term partners and some of my closest friends.

Leading up to me starting Aureate Productions I took business classes with the Small Business Development Center in Sacramento where I was staying over the pandemic. I learned business management, marketing, and finance which all enhanced my producing skills as I returned to Long Beach state and advanced in my courses.

Now I do 4-5 productions a month as well as events. I am thankful for all the amazing creative people I’ve had the chance to learn and grow alongside. I love what I do and my passion for media is only ever growing.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
There’s definitely been some challenges along the. When doing anything for yourself from an honest place theirs always going to be resistance. That resistance can be external expectations, self doubt, the market itself, etc. No one taught me how to be a producer. I’ve had to learn what that really means in the media world and how to position myself differently.

With so many options and possibilities of what a producer can do or carve out from themselves it can be overwhelming to navigate. I’ve always been a person who goes after what they want but sometimes that can get dangerous when I over do it. Part of my learning has been discovering how to balance my aspirations along with living life. You shouldn’t really put other things on hold. Part of succeeding is figuring out how to structure it so you can be whole not only in work but your personal relationships as well.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
My company, Aureate Productions (AP), is a creative agency and production house I founded to build lasting relationships through visual storytelling and emotional connection. With a foundation in film, I blend lighting, design, and narrative techniques to produce high-impact work from cinematic short films and music videos to commercials, event coverage, and social-first branded content. Everything we make is bold, intentional, and made for the digital age.

What sets us apart is our unique balance of visual aesthetic, cultural relevance, and behavioral insight. Before studying film, my focus was human development and international studies. That background now informs every frame. We don’t just capture moments, we decode what audiences crave: authenticity, edge, and emotional resonance. We translate those desires into visual campaigns that feel personal, alive, and impactful.

AP is known for its genre-blending style and our ability to elevate indie brands, local businesses, and emerging artists to global standards with immersive storytelling. Whether it’s a gritty concert recap, a fashion campaign, or a full brand story, our work feels cinematic; rooted in strategy and meant to move people.

What I’m most proud of is how AP has become a platform for the next wave of creatives. We exist not just to produce art, but to challenge who gets seen and how stories are told. We’re building a universe where design meets meaning, and where every frame serves both emotion and purpose.

If you’re a business owner, artist, or creative visionary who wants to connect with your audience in a deeper, more strategic way, we’re here to build that bridge. We offer full-service campaign direction, production, and marketing that doesn’t just create content, it creates art that connects.

What do you like and dislike about the city?
What I love about LA is the people. I love helping people realize their dreams and visions, taking their businesses and life to the next level. Helping owners and creatives build a stronger voice and messaging that touches their audiences in heartfelt ways, is what I believe I what I was meant to do in life. My favorite part throughout my whole journey has been meeting people and building a strong supportive community around me.

In August, I will be hosting a film festival along with Riptide Films at the Torrance Cultural Art Center’s Armstrong Theater. This event is just an example of the sort of experiences I love to cultivate. The festival is showcase of bold indie films with a high school block and indie film block. It’s a space for artists and filmmakers in Southern California to come together in celebration of unique storytelling and diverse voices.

I would say what I like least is all the possibilities. Having active creative energy and fronted with so many options can be overwhelming to the point where I can feel scattered or spread thin at times. I’ve really had to ground myself in who I am, my identity, and my values in order to navigate my path and only pursue what accomplishes the vision of what I hope the world to be. I don’t have everything figured out and I’m not supposed to. The journey is accepting uncertainty and moving forward into the unknown regardless of what may come next. That’s all just part of the game.
