Today we’d like to introduce you to Isa Marie.
Hi Isa, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Hi Voyage LA, my name is Isa Marie and I am a UGC and content creator. I’ve been a content creator for over 2 years now. Before content creation, I struggled a lot with depression and with my lack of purpose. I went to 2 different universities after I graduated high school in 2021 and dropped out of both schools. I was even more depressed after this and had to work some jobs I didn’t feel passionate about, like waitressing and being a barista. I knew my entire life I wanted to be great and do great things, and I knew I enjoyed sharing my story on social media and posting content on a regular basis. I strived for success even though those around me didn’t see me that way since I was a drop out. But I knew I was meant for more. I started a dropshipping business in college that failed, sold paints on Etsy that failed, but I would always see TikToks about becoming a full time content creator and 2 years ago I decided to give it my all, despite my family telling me not to pursue it and go back to waitressing. I moved out of my hometown for 6 months and decided to work part-time so that I could pursue social media. After months of doubt but being consistent, I finally started to flourish. And now to this day I am a full-time UGC and content creator, helping other creators live their dream life and I truly feel passionate about sharing my story with others and showing my authentic self online. Nobody believed in me, and that’s why I believed in myself first. I get to travel the world now, got my first apartment ever, work at my own pace, and I’ve been getting booked for photoshoots and content creator jobs in Los Angeles as well, which I will be permanently residing to soon. I’m super grateful that I remained consistent and faithful in myself.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Pursuing social media and being a content creator was definitely not easy. My entire family, except my grandma, who I thank the most for where I’m at today because of her endless support, did not believe in me. They would say I should go back to waitressing and another family member told me I needed to get a regular full-time job. It discouraged me a lot at this time but I’m super grateful I stayed consistent and didn’t give up. Starting out is also rough because you don’t get a ton of brand deals and work when you’re first starting out so I had to deal with very low compensation months, which was discouraging. I’ve definitely had moments where I wanted to give up. But then I remember Leila Hormozi saying to forget your feelings and stick with the plan, which is exactly what I did. Comparison was also a struggle since I would see a bunch of UGC creators doing so well and I didn’t understand what I was doing wrong or what I wasn’t doing enough of to be like them. It was also a struggle to understand how to make great content, which is something I had to research and understand for a long time.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a content creator and I specialize in UGC, paid ADs and organic media. I decided to pursue UGC because I love creating content with my favorite brands and products, but especially getting to build a relationship with the brands I love. I love helping them achieve their social media goals through converting content. I do UGC, but I am also known for influencing others online on how to pursue UGC and live their dream life. I am a super inspiring and educational creator, I love helping others realize their worth and seek their highest potential, it is my passion. Aside from this, I am known for my curly hairstyles, makeup routines and tips, outfit ideas, and other inspirational content. I am most proud of the fact that I remained consistent through my content creator journey and got to work with my favorite brands like Amazon, Bumble, Good Chemistry, Essence Cosmetics, Valentino Beauty, Road Surfer and more. I fly out to LA often for content creator gigs and photoshoots, and I recently did my first travel partnership with Road Surfer in LA that was fantastic. I am also proud that I decided to sell digital products online to help other creators which have been selling very well. What sets me apart from the rest is that I am not afraid to take risks and make bold moves. If I want to change something up, or travel somewhere alone where I’ve never been for a brand deal or partnership, I will do it. I am also not afraid to put my authentic self out there and speak the truth. Additionally, I strive to help others, because I empathize with people heavily, I know what its like to feel meaningless in life and not understand your self worth, and because Ive mastered these things, I love helping and teaching others that they can do anything they put their mind to and if their faith is big, they won’t perish. Failure is apart of the process which I like to make known as well.
Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
I can see content creation becoming more popular over time, however those who stick with it will flourish. AI is already playing a big part in social media however I do not believe it will dominate the space. More people will understand that social media is a real job and take it more seriously. I believe diversity within brands, especially makeup brands will improve and empower more creators.
