Conversations with Indiana Lormont

Today we’d like to introduce you to Indiana Lormont.

Hi Indiana, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I’m originally from France, but my journey really took shape when I moved to Chicago for film school. Being in a completely new environment pushed me to grow quickly, culturally, personally, and creatively. While I was there, I started exploring my interest in film production and had the chance to take on a few internships that really opened my eyes to the industry. Those experiences gave me a behind-the-scenes look at how stories are built and made me realize I wanted to be part of that world.
After graduating, I felt ready for a bigger challenge, so I moved to Los Angeles to immerse myself fully in the industry. Since then, I’ve been continuing to build my path here, taking what I learned from those early internships and using it to shape the direction I’m heading in now. It’s been a mix of growth, exploration, and finding my place in a city that constantly pushes me to create.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It definitely hasn’t been a completely smooth road. Moving from France to Chicago was a big transition. The cultural differences, the language adjustments, and just being far from home were all challenges I had to work through. Then, breaking into the film world brought its own set of obstacles. Internships were exciting, but they also showed me how competitive and unpredictable the industry can be.
On top of that, moving again to Los Angeles meant starting over in a sense, rebuilding my network, finding opportunities, and trying to prove myself in a city full of talented people. There were moments of doubt, times when things moved slower than I hoped, and plenty of setbacks along the way.
But each challenge pushed me to adapt, stay focused, and keep growing. In a way, the struggles have shaped my path just as much as the successes.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I work in film production, and over time I’ve found myself really drawn to the collaborative, problem-solving side of the process. I’ve had the chance to work across different areas of production, which has helped me develop a strong understanding of how all the moving parts come together to support a story. I tend to specialize in the organizational and creative coordination side: making sure the vision is clear, the details are aligned, and things run smoothly on set.
What I’m most proud of is how quickly I’ve adapted and grown within the industry. Coming from France, studying in Chicago, and then starting over again in LA, I’ve had to learn fast, work hard, and really earn my place. The internships I had early on taught me a lot about professionalism, pace, and the reality of production work, and I’ve carried that discipline with me ever since.
What sets me apart is my mix of international perspective and hands-on experience. I approach projects with a global mindset, a strong work ethic, and a genuine passion for storytelling. I’m known for being calm under pressure, supportive to the team, and willing to step into whatever role is needed to make the project stronger. At the end of the day, I just love being part of making something meaningful come to life.

Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
My biggest advice for anyone just starting out is to stay curious and stay persistent. The film world can feel overwhelming at first (there’s a lot to learn, and it moves quickly) but every small experience really does add up. Take every opportunity seriously, even the ones that seem insignificant. Some of the best lessons I’ve learned came from internships where I was just observing, helping out, or doing things that didn’t feel glamorous at the time.
I also wish I had known that it’s completely normal to feel like you’re starting from zero. Everyone does. What matters more is showing up, being reliable, and staying open to learning from the people around you. Connections are built slowly, and your reputation grows from how you treat people and how you handle pressure.
And finally, don’t be afraid to take risks: move to a new city, try a new role, ask questions, volunteer to help. The industry rewards people who are proactive and genuinely passionate. If you keep showing up with that energy, opportunities will find you.
