Conversations with Hunter Cohen

Today we’d like to introduce you to Hunter Cohen

Hi Hunter, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I’ve always been fascinated by anything that allowed me to be creative. Growing up, I was constantly toying around with different things like drawing, Legos, arts and crafts, etc. I think my passion for photography comes largely from my Mommom, who was always documenting moments with her camera. When I was little, she used to take me to random places just so we could take photos together.

At 15, I had the opportunity to shoot my first wedding for an entertainment company, and that’s when I knew photography and filmmaking were my calling. From that point on, I never put the camera down. I began learning everything I possibly could about filming and video editing.

I worked hard to hone my skills over the years, and in 2021, I made the leap to Los Angeles. It wasn’t easy, but through persistence and a ton of courage, I turned my passion into a career, working with brands, bands, and clients on creative projects that I’m really proud of.

Today, I’m grateful to call myself a successful artist, fortunate enough to travel, capturing people, places, and moments through my lens—and getting paid to do what I love. There’s just nothing better than that!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The journey has been far from smooth, but I’m grateful for every challenge I’ve faced—nothing worthwhile comes easy. Moving 2,700 miles away from my family and everything I knew was a big leap, and I’ve dealt with countless rejections, self-doubt, and even imposter syndrome along the way. A few years touring in the music industry took a toll on my mental health, and stepping outside my comfort zone on a daily basis required more courage than I expected. Yet, every hurdle—both internal and external—has played a key role in shaping who I am, both personally and professionally.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m a Los Angeles based Photographer and Filmmaker originally from a small town in South Jersey. I thrive on variety, whether it’s directing, shooting music videos, brand campaigns, or exploring new creative projects. While I don’t focus on one specific area, I embrace the distinctiveness of each project and am passionate about maintaining a diverse and creative approach. Truthfully, I just love having the camera in my hands and being creative, it’s as simple as that.
For me, the most meaningful source of pride comes from where personal fulfillment and professional achievements intersect.

So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
What matters to me is preserving that childlike sense of wonder in my creative work and myself. I believe this pure, unfiltered creativity is where it all begins. Staying curious about the world and finding ways to capture it as I see it through my own eyes is what fuels my passion. I often say, “Let’s create like kids” or “Let’s be kids again” because I believe children see the world with a purity unclouded by societal expectations. Their perspective is more genuine and unfiltered, which can lead to truly innovative and authentic creativity.

Documenting life is something I find incredibly meaningful. Capturing both big and small moments creates a way to look back and reflect, while also allowing me to share my experiences and personal journey with others. I try to take as many photos as possible and very often write in a journal in order to relive these moments when I’m much older. Life is pretty cool and forgetting the little things are one of my greatest fears.

What matters MOST to me is the support of my family, friends, and community. Their encouragement has been crucial to my success, and I genuinely believe I wouldn’t be where I am today without them. Their unwavering support and belief in me are invaluable, and I am deeply grateful for their constant encouragement. I’m truly thankful for everyone who stands by me.
