Today we’d like to introduce you to Giovanna Ramos.
Hi Giovanna, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I started modeling at 16. I had just recently went viral for dressing up as young ma for Halloween and people started sending a bunch of merch for me to promo. I would take pictures in my room or outside and as I built up my following on social media the more stuff I’d receive. It wasn’t until the pandemic came around that I started taking modeling more serious and started to actually use the stuff I got in the mail in real shoots. I used the first year of the pandemic strictly to build a portfolio and find a niche for myself. After the first year, everything started to move with ease, I started getting booked for shoots by small brands and started to be more consistent with shoots until eventually, I began to get booked by brands that I knew or seen somewhere before. I feel like I got to where I’m at now by simply being consistent and finding what worked for me as a content creator.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I could honestly say it has not been a smooth road. I’ve been chasing my modeling dream for 5-6 years and I’m just now actually seeing my hard work pay off. I think the hardest part about the journey and staying motivated/positive throughout everything. Sometimes you get a sad feeling and start thinking if all this work is worth it. Having to sit there telling yourself to just keep pushing through is hard but it’s probably the best thing I’ve ever done in my life.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a model and I feel like I’m known for my style. I have a very ’90s type of aesthetic and when i’m getting booked for gigs, people will usually say my style matched their vision. I like heavy gold jewelry, grillz, brown lipliner, I’ve got face tats, I wear baggy clothes, etc… I think what sets me apart from others is how true I stay to myself. I like being authentic. I like being able to show up as myself and feel comfortable no matter the situation. I feel like it’s harder to make it in the modeling industry when you aren’t willing to change things about yourself and I think that makes me prouder to achieve my goals. Only because it gives me the feeling of “I did this without having to portray a fake image”.
What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
My most important lesson has been a “no” doesn’t mean “never”. It just means that wasn’t for me right now, but when time is right? I’ll it will be.
