Today we’d like to introduce you to Garam Moon.
Hi Garam, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I embarked on a journey of self-discovery, trying my hand at various activities to find my true passion and strengths. After much searching, I discovered my love for the art of tattooing and made the decision to pursue it as a career. I saved up money through manual labor and enrolled in tattooing classes to further my skills. The excitement of finally doing what I was truly passionate about fueled me to work harder and hone my craft. Over the years, I have had the privilege of working with a diverse range of clients, including over 2 million TikTokers and 400,000 famous TikTokers from Korea and Toronto, brain surgeons featured in well-known magazines, as well as video directors, photographers, YouTubers, rappers, and even a few doctors with specialties in art, geology, and more.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
My journey to become a successful tattoo artist was not without obstacles. Initially, the cost of learning the craft was high, and as a beginner, finding clients was difficult. My income was inconsistent for almost two years, but I was determined to improve my skills. To achieve this, I dedicated myself to my craft, working for long hours and practicing for several consecutive days without rest. My relentless effort and determination differentiate me from others in the field and have contributed to my success today. I am constantly striving to improve, driven by the belief that there is always room for growth in my art. This mindset helps me push the boundaries of what’s possible in the world of tattooing.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
As a tattoo artist, I have been honing my craft since December 2018. My passion lies in creating intricate oriental paintings and I take great pride in always delivering my best work. My signature style emphasizes softness, which sets me apart from others in the field. I am dedicated to ensuring complete satisfaction for my clients and am not satisfied until they are. I have made countless revisions to my designs, sometimes as many as 30 to 40 times, to ensure they are perfect. I take a collaborative approach to my work, never imposing my personal style on my clients but rather, seeking their input to create unique and personal designs.
My ultimate goal is not only to build a reputation as an artist but also to bring joy and happiness to those who receive my tattoos. I believe that true art is not just about the artist’s vision, but about the connection and emotions it evokes in the person who experiences it. That is my unique perspective on the art of tattooing, and it is what drives me to create meaningful and memorable works for my clients.
Before we go, is there anything else you can share with us?
My nickname is Arirang, named after the iconic Korean folk song. The name Arirang carries a deeper meaning beyond just its musical roots, representing the journey of self-discovery. I constantly reflect on my own path of self-awareness and strive to share my insights with my readers, encouraging them to take the same journey toward a deeper understanding of themselves.
