Today we’d like to introduce you to Felicia Dillon.
Hi Felicia, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I am the owner of Creative Talent Artist. A little background on me is I got started in the entertainment business in 2008. I landed roles on shows like glee, True Jackson VP, CSI, Victorious. What I notice is I was in my 30’s but all my roles were a 16 years old characters. That is when I started asking the minor on set how do they work in the industry. A huge star on victorious & pretty little liars gave me the answers and from that day, I decided I want to represent kid actors and models.
I started by working with my own son managing him and booking him for jobs, before I knew it parents on set was asking tons of questions and pushing me to open an agency. The parents explained to me the companies they were with charged them all kinds of fees, promising work for kids and not helping the kids understand the business side of the industry.
Creative Talent Artist is a company where parents can trust their kids will be represented in the best light. Parents can bring their kids just the way they are and I will help their kids express their creative side & gain knowledge about the entertainment industry. I teach kids about the financial side of the industry and the business side of the industry. CTA represents kids & young adult models/ Actors/Musicians and creators. We love diversity and we push kids to explore their creative side.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
To get this company started, I had to curate the right team that would always put the talent first and cares for them the way I would.
Threw the relations that I previously build, I had directors a d producer that would wanted to help me get this started and they gave me tons of advice.
This was the first time in my life where being a beautiful person inside and out paid off, Hollywood really stepped up and let me know how proud of me they were and offer to help in so many ways.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I specialize in taking kids how they are and helping them gain confidence in themselves. I think everyone has special qualities and I help kids become the best they can be. So when it’s time to audition there ready. We work on confidence, etiquette, and skills in whichever field they chose to go into. And if they are a model that can actually be an influencer are singer, I let them know that I see that in them and work with then to build up a portfolio are resume so they can book work.
Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
I always say find someone that is doing what you want to do, and please make sure age is not a factor. I have learned things from people that are much younger than me.
Networking always be yourself. If you change to fit in sooner are later, you will fade into the background. Get personal with people and connect to show them you are real and not a robot.
