Conversations with Emma Grier

Today we’d like to introduce you to Emma Grier.

Hi Emma, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I’ve been in the arts since I was little. I got my start as a singer, which is what inspired me to create my buisness. I realized that independent artists have so little autonomy and so little support. I put my own music on the back burner and started doing side jobs for the artists around me. That inspired me to create Stella Star Studios Inc. the Media and Production company. When I was behind the scenes I found a passion for helping produce other artists dreams. I haven’t forgotten my passion for music though, and have been exploring more ways to work with independent artists and build my music career.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has not been a smooth road and I’m unsure if it’ll flatten out anytime soon. Being a young entrepreneur in any field is always challenging. Sometimes the road blocks are your own confidence in your abilities as the experience is still building. Other roadblocks I’ve found are finding passionate people to work with. The artists I meet are following their own path which is exactly what you want to do as an artist. When everyone’s following their own path, it can get tough to make projects happen. Collaboration is only done right when the people mesh and that takes time. Not everything is going to happen as fast or as bold as you want it to. The little waves will build into something bigger as long as you have patience and persistence.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I have been known as a jack of all trades. I’ve worked in many fields from events and project production, social media management, and music creation. I think I’m still figuring out my specialty, but for now if you need something or someone I’m the one who can get it done. I’m most proud of my creative mind. I don’t know where I get it from but I’ve watched myself pop out songs in a night and help plan and fund a pilot production last minute at the drop of a hat. I’m still amazed that at nineteen years old I planned and hosted a fairy tale birthday party for 200+ artists and influencers in the Hollywood Hills in under a month. We had people flying from all around the world and even had an actual castle. I think what sets me apart from others is my determination. When an artist needs something done I’ll find a way.

Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
Luck has played as much of a part as the hard work I’ve put in. A saying I live by is if you’re running late you don’t just wish to make the bus. You run like hell and wish to make it and if you catch the bus it was meant to be yours.
