Conversations with Elliot Hans

Today we’d like to introduce you to Elliot Hans.

Elliot, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
In 2015 A 70’s love child born in Topanga Canyon, Stoned Immaculate echoes California’s golden era and our deep appreciation for all things vintage, Stoned Immaculate is crafted in small batches sustainably and ethically made close to our hearts with passionate attention to quality, detail & attaining the perfect fit.

We’re inspired by a culture of freedom, beauty, and sovereign expression while playing in the unified field of consciousness and love. We reflect the golden era of Now and the gentle warriors of our Future.

You can wear Stoned Immaculate knowing that you are carrying with you all of the memories and energy of a time when hair was long, love was free, and the music was capable of taking you to a place you’ve never been before.

Drawing inspiration from photographs, books, music and a few of our own highly coveted vintage scores from the 60s & ’70s, we seek to create something worth passing on for generations to come.

We celebrate the freedom of expression and all things vintage through our custom designs and through our communal connections.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I believe all business is a spiritual game. If it’s a bumpy road some days those “bumps” are there to teach me something. If I can keep the mindset that problems are good, then I can move to the next moment smoothly with that growth under my belt. One of the biggest issues with making clothing in Los Angeles is the amount of energy and hand-holding it takes to get one thing done. If you have a delivery date for a store, you MUST create a huge cushion of time for production, chances are it’s going to take 3 times longer than quoted. Also, you can make life a lot smoother if you just start with one category and fabric ie. jeans/denim or t-shirts/jersey. We have many categories: jeans, t-shirts, sweaters, leather styles, outwear, swim, and beauty products. Each one category has its own fabrics group: leather, denim, silk, jersey, cashmere and more. When you have to learn how denim from Italy washes down differently than denim from USA or milling your own vintage-inspired jersey for that perfect Tee beware each one is trap of with a maze inside that you have to navigate.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a designer, creative director, painter, photographer, director, musician, and yogi. I blend all of those things and more into my work. I specialize in creating an emotional connection with the medium and the viewer. I am known for making new clothing look and feel vintage. I started doing that back in 2003 with my first brand Morphine Generation, creating super distressed tee shirts for a $100. Honestly, I don’t follow trends. I really don’t know what’s poppin as I don’t look at the fashion world. I stay connected to our core customer and the brand’s identity which has its’ own lane of unique expression of all things vintage / 1960s era.

What matters most to you? Why?
I really want humans to feel free, confident, empowered, abundant, and unique. It’s the vision that keeps me inspired, knowing that Stoned Immaculate really speaks to independent and free-spirited person in the world. I believe all of those are our birthright and I am here to help remind or support that in others.
