Conversations with Elle Levy

Today we’d like to introduce you to Elle Levy

Hi Elle, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I’m originally from Brooklyn New York, I always knew I was destined for greatness. My life has always been a roll a coaster of events. Never a normal dull moment , some good some bad. I moved out at 16 from my parents house. I always had an infatuation with independence and started working at the age of 14 years old. To be honest my parents never were really involved with anything I did in my life so I basically was on my own once I was old enough to take a bus , at the age of 12. Anyway after always getting into some kind of trouble at the age of 26 I decided I wanted to change my life and picked up and moved to Los Angeles. I had 20 thousand dollars to my name , which I leaned quickly was not a lot of money. After a year I became homeless, couch surfing from one house to another. At some point I got a phone call of someone looking for a roommate and I got lucky enough to get a place of my own again . I never knew how I was going to make it but once I surrendered my life to god everything changed for me. After struggling for about 5 years in la I started working in the cannabis industry where I was finally able to get on my feet. I was the head of marketing department for a big cannabis brand where I met a lot of celebrities and people in the entertainment industry. Everything was going great, but I always wanted my happily ever after. I didn’t realize that maybe that wasn’t meant to be my reality or maybe it was a dream they sold us in Disney movies but none the less I pursued it. After meeting my last boyfriend I got pregnant during Covid. I decided that I was going to keep the baby. So at the age of 33 I became a mother not realizing I’d have to pivot my enter lifestyle because being in the cannabis industry isn’t “mom friendly “ so I had to walk away from the life I always wanted so I can be the mom my son needed. After having some successes in my life I asked myself what I wanted to do , and for some reason I choose podcasting. I always knew I had it in me to entertain people everyone doubted me and told me it was a pipe dream. But 100 million views later I’m thinking this might be my path.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No it’s never been a smooth road for me. My life has never been smooth , having to walk away from an industry that was making me lots of success and starting over at 36 was and is a major struggle I face as we speak . It can take years to make it big/ if it even happens. I find myself in an “in between” place. In between rich and poor in between happy and depressed in between success and failure , in between old and young and in between old and young , in between the stupidest or the smartest move I’ve ever made. I guess time will reveal the answers.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I currently produce and host the Tacos & Shawarma podcast. What do I specialize in? Making something outta nothing. That’s always been my specialty, I don’t have a text book answer because I’m not a text book person. I’m most proud of still standing after life has smacked me down, still being a responsible mother and putting my son before everything yet still running my entire show by myself with no help and not giving up. What sets me apart from everyone else? I don’t know, we all have our stories, we’ve all suffered in our own ways. I can’t say I’m different , what I can say is I’ll never give up on my dream. My dream of being free.

Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
Seems like podcasting is the new way for people to market themselves as a buisness and use their platform to market others. It’s a new marketing tool for people to use to reach the audience they want. I don’t know what is coming but what I do know is podcasters , the big ones , are making more money then professional athletes and musicians.
