Today we’d like to introduce you to E.Flo
Hi Edgar, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start, maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers.
I have always had a passion for the arts. It really all began with graffiti, fat markers and spray cans. I should have known then, there was more to come, but it wasn’t until I was faced with a crossroad in my professional career, that I decided to give my artwork a chance.
My contract as a visual designer was over, there was no more work for me, and I had to make some huge decisions fast. Well, that was just the push I needed. So, I said, let’s do this! Let’s turn the hobby into the enterprise! And I haven’t stopped since!
It took so much courage, faith, belief, and support from my family. I could not have done it without them.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Definitely challenges, mostly mental. How to start, how to sell, is this the right decision, how is my work going to be received? An endless amount of concern about the future but that was the issue. The uncertainty. I’ve learned that the best way to combat uncertainty is to take action because thinking about the “unknown future challenges” only delays what you want to accomplish.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a Mexican-American Fine Artist. Currently my favorite medium is oil on canvas, but this changes all the time depending on my mood and inspirations.
I am most known for the balance between abstract and realistic, loose, yet controlled with an explosive vibrancy of color. Many of my works of art have reached international exposure, and I am proud to say you can find E. Flos in private collections all around the world.
To be completely honest, I love to paint just about anything. It’s more about the commitment to improving and having fun with your craft. Another fun part of my work is collaborating on commissions and helping bring my collector’s visions to life in my style. It’s always such a humbling experience.
I am most proud of having believed in myself, of having taken the leap and trusting my talents. I am also proud of all E.Flo Art’s collaboration with local charities but best of all, my children get to watch and take part in the art journey.
We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you.
Luck is a funny thing; I think you create your own luck with hard work. Luck in when opportunity meets preparation! What good is luck if you aren’t ready?
Stay prepare because we all have opportunities, and we have to be ready.
Luck is a risk taken.
