Conversations with Ece Naz Kiziltan

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ece Naz Kiziltan.

Ece Naz Kiziltan

Ece Naz, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I began my journey in filmmaking by taking acting classes from a very early age. Things really took off when I got a chance to act in a movie called “Lovelorn” in Turkey. That experience made me love storytelling even more and led me to study filmmaking in college.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Joining the film industry as a young female filmmaker has not been easy. However, with the support of believers in my vision, I overcame these obstacles and created unique, inspiring work. In today’s ever-evolving industry, young directors with fresh perspectives are crucial to pushing boundaries.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I mostly create music videos, and I truly enjoy collaborating with other creatives who can expand my artistic vision. Working with musicians has always been so fun. I believe, my positive attitude and work ethic play a big role in how I create. I’m like a curious observer who wants to express genuine human feelings in a deep and meaningful way, by using symbolism and allegory in my work.

Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
Not to try to be like ”someone else”. In today’s world, we are constantly bombarded with images of people who appear to be incredibly productive, creative, and active on social media. This can create a sense that we are not doing enough, leading us to constantly watch, imitate, and even envy others in an attempt to be like them. Personally, I’ve been working on focusing authenticity. Having a very rich cultural roots combining Anatolia and Europe nourishes me.
