Conversations with Dominique Columbus

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dominique Columbus.

Hi Dominique, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Dominique Columbus is an LA based actor who rose to fame after a recurring role on showtime’s hit show “Ray Donovan” for 2 seasons. Shortly after Ray Donovan, Dominique starred along side Johnny Depp in “City of Lies”, a film about the murder of “The Notorious B.L.G” directed by Brad Furman.

Currently he is also one of the lead actors in the record breaking remake of “Road House”, starring Jake Gyllenhaal & Connor McGregor, which is now Amazon Prime’s most watch movie ever.

Dominique is also a founder of “Phenom.”, a film network focused on bringing filmmakers and creators together. Phenom. has locked in multiple distribution deals & signed over 50 creators to their network.
The co-founder of this network is Dom’s best friend Reggie Luckett.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It comes with highs and lows. The lows were never setbacks — just moments that forced me to sharpen the tools I already had, preparing me for the bigger wins that always come full circle.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m an actor and filmmaker who directs, writes, edits, and produces all of my own content alongside my team. I’ve been fortunate to build my career both in front of and behind the camera, and most people know me from my acting work in projects like Road House with Jake Gyllenhaal, Ray Donovan with Liev Schreiber, and City of Lies with Johnny Depp.

What I’m most proud of is my company, PHENOM. It’s the place where every skill I’ve developed over the years — as an actor, filmmaker, and creator — lives under one umbrella. It allows my team and me to fully control our storytelling: we create it, produce it, and star in it. PHENOM is a home for original, high-energy action and drama content, and a space where we don’t wait for permission — we build our own lane.

What sets me apart is my approach. I don’t sit around waiting for opportunities or a “yes” from someone else. I create with what I have, elevate with every project, and keep pushing forward. No excuses — just execution, consistency, and the belief that you can build something great from the ground up.
