Today we’d like to introduce you to Discotheque Salon .
Hi Discotheque Salon, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Discotheque Salon was founded by owner, Kayla Lofaro, early February 2021. After a long year filled with anxiety of not knowing what the salon life would look like.. the salon that Kayla was working at had to unfortunately close its doors. Immediately, she thought this could be the perfect opportunity to open her own dream space. So, in the midst of the global pandemic, she grabbed her fellow stylists and opened up Discotheque, an intimate salon that makes you feel safe while also providing the ultimate salon experience. Discotheque’s name came from inspiration from Kayla’s mother who raised her artists like Donna Summer and Blondie. 🙂
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Not knowing the future of in person salons has been the biggest obstacle so far. With no end in sight, the pandemic absolutely shifted what the salon should look like. Making sure our clients are safe and healthy is our number one priority. Supplying masks, keeping a safe distance and making sure each station is cleaned off immediately after use is how we are providing a safe environment for our clients.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Discotheque provides a perfect commendation of a desert oasis mixed with a little bit of D I S C O. With the company of extremely talented and educated stylists, we are here to provide you with the ultimate pampering experience. Discotheque is also a hub for local artists in the area. All art provided by the salon is for sale by 100% the artist!
Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
Starting from scratch is always a big risk. You never know the outcome and could feel overwhelmed with “is this okay?” moments. But at the end of the day, you have to dive head first into whatever you are doing and give it all you got. Finding inspiration and staying true to yourself will always be worth it.
