Today we’d like to introduce you to Delisha Easley.
Hi Delisha, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My story begins as a very loved baby born to beautiful God-fearing parents in the lovely city of Atlanta, GA. As the third daughter, my confidence seemed natural. I was often doted on by relatives and family friends alike. From the tender age of three, I was observant and inquisitive. However, I was not vocal about my thoughts or anything for that matter. My parents took me to the audiologist because they thought I may be deaf but only to find out I just didn’t want to speak. When I did begin to talk, I just spoke in a complete sentence. Throughout the years, my quiet demeanor was often mistaken for timidity. However, in middle school something changed in me literally from the inside out. My love for God really grew and the verses Acts 1:8 and 2 Timothy 1:6-8 became real to me. I was unashamed about my faith and committed to going into all the world telling others about the love of God. Going on my first mission trip at age 12 to Mexico gave me the opportunity to stir up the gifts within me.
The next year I won a literary writing contest, won the spelling bee for my school, voted most athletic and funniest in my school. I felt confident and comfortable in being all God created me to be. Just three years before I was in a shell, angry and fearful because I was sexually assaulted by a neighborhood kid. After almost a year, I informed my parents and we got through the ordeal, but I slowly began to regain the pieces of Delisha back. At that moment, I never thought or could even see myself speak in front of anyone let alone begin traveling the world ministering to hundreds of people. Years later, that award in literary writing came back to my attention as I wrote my first published article in the top Gospel magazine in America, Gospel Today. A year later, I was a published author! I have since been continuing this journey called life with various ups and downs but never losing hope during the process. There is purpose in the process so gain the lesson and continue the journey. In one of my top sellers, “Purpose in the Process: Journey to Destiny” I share more of my story of being homeless, being held hostage in Venezuela, and many more. As an author, I get to use my voice to reach thousands that I may never meet. From a child, I’ve just loved God and His people. You couldn’t have told me that I’d be an Amazon best-selling author just a few years ago, but I know that I’m just a vessel used to inspire, encourage, and help those on this journey of life.
When I’m not writing or speaking somewhere in the world, you can find me enjoying time with family and friends at game night, dancing, roller skating, horseback riding, or any other outdoor activity. Serving globally is great but I make sure to give back in my local community through serving those less fortunate and the youth of this beautiful city through various organizations.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
No road in life is smooth LOL, but some people’s roads may seem smoother than yours because you’re looking from a far off. In Matthew 7:14 (NKJV) Jesus states, “Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it.” If you want to go to a path that leads to life and not destruction there’s going to be obstacles and challenges, but that won’t hold us back. Struggling with my physical appearance, knowing who I am, and probably a few others. However, I was able to overcome the insecurities of my personal appearance by knowing and believing I’m a reflection of greatness, God. The confidence to see myself differently in the natural world started from within, my heart and mind. My mom had us repeat specific confessions everyday based on scripture about being fearfully and wonderfully made, we are made in God’s image, etc. but this was the first time I saw the power of one’s words. Whoever is reading this, I encourage you to truly speak life into your world and watch things change, starting with you.
Overcoming one challenge/obstacle doesn’t mean another one will not come later. When it comes to my new book “The Due Date: Birthing in the Right Season”, it has been a challenge to finish writing, marketing, and other outside distractions. However, I’ve pushed through these past eight months to give this book my all. The purpose of this book is two-fold; one to help leaders better serve those in their lives that they are called to spiritual align themselves with and unlike other books, this isn’t about discovering your purpose but helps you determine the importance of spiritual accountability so that you can bring forth all God has put in you. This book will inform you on what a spiritual midwife is and the necessity of having one. While writing this book, I’ve felt such an urgency to get these words out. My obedience is connected to another person’s purpose being fulfilled. There’s been a lot of late nights, sacrificing fun times, ignoring distractions, and remaining disciplined because the impact it will make is all worth the sacrifice.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m a Project Manager overseeing Talent Acquisition Recruiters for a FinTech company.
My other work is an author and international speaker. I’m known for elevating others to be thoroughly equipped for their God-given purpose in life.
I’m most proud of being an example to other minority women that you too can transition into the financial tech space by being uniquely you. What sets me apart from others is my diverse professional background that has lead me to extraordinary opportunities personally and professionally.
Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
First and foremost, God deserves all the credit for giving me amazing parents (love you mommy and daddy), my mentors, cheerleaders (my international squad love y’all), my cousin Alicia one of my biggest cheerleaders and editors, my supporters for pushing me to continue to unapologetically fulfill my God-given purpose. Without all of you, I couldn’t be where I am today. I’d like to give credit to my writing, publishing, and marketing Coach Shanine for helping me share my story globally.
