Today we’d like to introduce you to Davide Micciulla. Them and their team share their story with us below:
Davide Micciulla is a Video Art Director from Syracuse, Sicily.
He had a unique start to his filmmaking career, though. As a child, he dreamt of a life of discovery – archaeology.
This childhood aspiration led to a deep fascination with photography.
His passion enveloped him, so much so that his father called it “A second skin”. Once captivated by the art of imagery, he set his sights on investing in a camera. He saved up money and, as soon as he was able to, purchased his first real camera – his greatest companion on many adventures in his youth.
At 18, he decided to leave his beloved hometown for Milan where he began studying Art Direction at Naba. It was in this program that he discovered a new medium – one that encapsulated all of his desires. Video Making allowed Davide to express himself through living images. He honed his craft and began his collaborative career with fashion designers and agencies before eventually becoming an official video contributor for Elle Italia. Still, Davide commits his time and energy to learn more, maintaining his focus and enthusiasm throughout his professional journey with an unmatched thirst for knowledge and experience.
Within a few years, he has been able to truly immerse himself into the fashion industry, signing contracts with international companies such as H&M, Shiseido, and Samsung. His videos have been aired on national TV channels such as Mediaset and Rai. More recently, he worked for Alexandre Birman, Booking.com and with such important stars of Hollywood as Demi Moore and the celebrity of Gossip Girl, Ed Westwick.
He was nominated as one of the 100 New Wave: Creatives in the world from the British Fashion Council and won awards in the film festival all over the world. Even so, he has only just begun accomplishing his goals and will continue to explore the world of art and creativity – the only world he wants to be a part of.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Definitely, this industry is not easy at all. It’s been a hard road, especially at the beginning. Was everything new for me, I came from a small town in south of Italy, was my first time in a “big” city. I needed to understand the mechanism of this world and especially I needed to understand the people and how to approach to them.
Was really hard, but I will do it again other million times. Everything happens for a reason and I can definitely tell I grow up a lot from that first experiences.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m graduating as Art Director and I’m more known in the fashion Industry. I work with international brands to help them on creating video adv and social to sponsor their new collections.
During Covid, I started also to create my limited edition collection of Frame with some of my best pics took around the world. I had an exclusive on Moda Operandi and Lucia Via Roma. You can find everything on my shop online at www.davidemicciulla.com
I’m also a creative contributor for 2 different companies.
I would love to say that I work on everything is creative.
Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
I was such a different person of who I’m now. I was really shy and not confident at all. For sure I was never expecting to do what I’m doing now, work with the most iconic people in the world or party with celebrities in their Beverly Hills houses.
Now I can tell that I really grow up being humble and try to be more kind if possible. My parents taught me what really matters in life and in this world not often you will see kind people. But I know for sure step by step I will arrive where I want.
