History
David Lieder followed his true calling into the catering business shortly after moving to LA. David was asked by a local Rabbi to cater the Synagogue’s Friday Night Communal Shabbat Dinner back in 2009, and demand for his Gourmet Shabbat Delicacies has not let him rest since then.
After growing out of a Shul kitchen, David opened LA’s 1st Shabbos Take-out Retail Store in 2014. In the heart of the Pico-Robertson Kosher Food Scene, David has recently doubled the size and capacity of his Flagship Pico location to meet the growing popularity & demand for his food.
Lieder’s concept was a revolutionary idea at the time for the Los Angeles Kosher consumers and in just a short period of time after launching his Brick & Mortar Shop in 2014, Lieder’s became a household name in LA.
From the variety of over 30 Salads & Dips to the Full Buffet Display’s of Prepared Meats, Chicken & Sides, Lieder’s is a 1 stop Shabbos Needs Provider.
David continues to serve the greater LA community with his latest expansion project at Lieder’s Take-out & Catering store, on Pico Blvd., in the heart of LA’s Jewish Community.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Started out of people’s homes, moved into a synagogue kitchen, started catering to other synagogues for their weekly Shabbat Kiddush (meal after services on Saturdays), five years later opened up first retail shop on Pico Robertson (2014). Opened a hancock park location that lasted five years 2017-2022.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Started as a chef, cooking all the traditional Ashkenazi Jewish foods but with my own flare added. Today a full-throttle takeout and catering company Lieder’s with more than a dozen employees.
How can people work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
Come taste our gefilte fish lol Only open Thursdays and Fridays (retail shop).
